Tozaki, a freelance writer, is thrown back into the past when he encounters Kurata, his high school crush, while on assignment. What starts as a chance meeting quickly reignites old flames, and they dive into a passionate, secret relationship. But this is no simple love story—Kurata is emotionally guarded and possessive, while Tozaki struggles between his lingering feelings and the painful reality of Kurata's hot-and-cold behavior. Through a series of flashbacks, we see their first love in high school, a memory that haunts them both. As jealousy and misunderstanding threaten to tear them apart, the film explores whether first love can survive adulthood, insecurity, and the weight of unspoken truths. A tender yet angsty Japanese BL that captures the ache of loving someone who can't seem to love you back the way you need.

I absolutely melted watching Tozaki and Kurata. Their chemistry is so real, and the way they look at each other—especially in the flashback scenes—gave me butterflies. Yes, Kurata has his issues, but his jealousy just shows how deeply he cares. The ending song is my new favorite. This is exactly the kind of angsty romance I live for.

I wanted to like this more, but the pacing felt off and the characters' motivations are never really explained. Kurata acts like a jerk for most of the movie, and Tozaki just takes it—that's not romantic, it's frustrating. The flashbacks are used well, but they don't fix the fact that the present-day relationship is toxic. Could have been better with tighter writing.

For a low-budget 2010 film, the cinematography surprised me. The beach scenes are beautifully shot, and the use of lighting to show emotional distance between the leads is clever. I did notice some odd costuming—Takahashi Yuta's suits don't fit him well, which is distracting. Still, there are some genuinely striking frames here.

As a fan of the original manga, I was curious to see how it would translate. The film captures the core story, but it loses some of the subtle character development. Kurata comes across even more aggressive here, and Tozaki's patience borders on doormat territory. It's not a bad adaptation, but manga readers might feel something is missing.

I have to be honest: this movie romanticises really unhealthy behavior. Kurata's possessiveness and the two near-rape scenes are glossed over as passion. Tozaki's unconditional acceptance feels less like love and more like codependency. There's no conversation about consent or boundaries. If you're sensitive to these issues, I'd skip this one.
