At Benisakura High School, Kamei Madoka is the undisputed top student—cheerful, charismatic, and unbeatable in a fight. But after a traumatic incident involving his younger brother, Madoka swears off violence forever. His resolve is tested when he crosses paths with Mitsuru Sato, a mysterious transfer student from a rival school with a hidden past. Forced into an unlikely living arrangement, the two boys must navigate school gang rivalries, buried secrets, and their own growing feelings. Blending high-octane fight choreography with tender, slow-burn romance, *Love Punch!* is a refreshingly grounded Japanese BL that balances dark emotional stakes with heartwarming camaraderie. It’s a story about choosing love over revenge—and finding strength in vulnerability.

I was kicking my feet at 3 AM—this movie is pure magic! The chemistry between Madoka and Mitsuru feels so real, and I loved that Madoka is openly gay and nobody cares. The fight scenes are surprisingly good too, and that kiss at the end? Perfection. I rewatched it already.

Finally, a Japanese BL that takes gang school rivalry seriously! The choreography isn't High&Low level but it's solid and the tone balances dark moments with humor well. I wish the romance had more development, but as a fan of yankee stories, I'm thrilled this exists. Hope it opens doors for more.

Pretty standard fare. The pacing is all over the place—characters become best friends in 15 minutes, and Mitsuru's secret feels dumped in via exposition. The action is decent but the romance lacks spark. If you're a fan of the cast or want a cozy filler, go ahead. Otherwise, nothing new here.

The cinematography surprised me—the fight sequences are well-framed, and the lighting in the little shop scenes gives a warm, nostalgic feel. The costume design for the rival schools is distinct and fun. I just wish the director had let the camera linger more on the emotional beats instead of cutting away. Still, a visually pleasant watch.

I appreciate Madoka being out and accepted—that's progressive for a Japanese high school story. But the romance feels more like family love than a BL, and the constant apologizing between the leads grated on me. For a film about gang violence, the actual fallout of violence is glossed over. Good intentions, mediocre execution.
