A lyrical triptych of love and longing, *Juliets* weaves three standalone tales set across different eras of Taiwanese history. In the 1970s, a disabled printing worker named Xiu Zhu resigns herself to a life without romance—until a mysterious woman named Juliet walks into her world and challenges everything she believes. Another story follows a young man grappling with his sexuality under the shadow of a traditional family, finding unexpected connection in a fleeting encounter. The final segment explores a modern-day romance between a musician and a photographer, testing the boundaries of trust and identity. Each story reimagines the archetype of Juliet, not as a tragic heroine, but as a symbol of courage, desire, and the transformative power of love. Though the film is an anthology, its emotional heartbeat is unified by themes of self-discovery, societal pressure, and the quiet defiance of following your heart. With rich period detail and nuanced performances, especially from Hou Chi Jan and Lee Khan, *Juliets* offers a tender, bittersweet meditation on love in all its forms.

I went in expecting three separate love stories and came out with my heart full. The 1970s segment especially wrecked me—it's so tender and quietly revolutionary. The chemistry between the leads is understated but real. If you love emotional, character-driven queer cinema, don't miss this.

An interesting concept that doesn't quite land. The three stories feel disjointed, and the pacing drags in the middle segment. Some beautiful moments, but the lack of a cohesive narrative thread left me unsatisfied. I wanted more depth from each story, not just vignettes.

Visually gorgeous. The cinematography captures Taiwan's changing landscapes—from dusty printing shops to neon-lit rooftops—with a painterly eye. Each segment has its own color palette that mirrors the characters' emotions. Not a perfect film, but a feast for those who appreciate visual storytelling.

I appreciate the attempt to center queer lives in historical and modern contexts, but the execution feels a bit too safe. The film touches on homophobia and disability but never digs into the harder edges. Still, it's a rare gem for its time, and the quiet dignity of the characters is moving.

The soundtrack is a hidden treasure. Each segment uses music differently—a melancholic piano for the 1970s story, ambient sounds for the modern one—and it elevates every emotional beat. I've been searching for the score online ever since. Worth watching just for the audio experience.
