Set during the COVID-19 lockdown in the Philippines, *Jack & Jill* is a raw and intimate micro-series that explores what happens when a casual online hookup blossoms into something deeper—or something far more complicated. Jill, a homebody who runs a small brownie business, connects with the charismatic and tattooed Jack through a dating app. To finally meet him, Jill offers free brownie samples, and what starts as a one-night stand slowly evolves into a quarantine bubble romance. As they navigate the claustrophobic intensity of lockdown together, the lines between genuine affection, loneliness, and manipulation blur. With only eight short episodes, the series focuses almost entirely on the two leads, capturing their vulnerable conversations, awkward silences, and tender moments. But a sudden, shocking twist in the finale forces viewers to re-evaluate everything they thought they knew about Jack's intentions. Part sweet, part unsettling, *Jack & Jill* is a thought-provoking look at how quickly intimacy can form—and how easily it can be weaponized.

I honestly don't get the hate for this series. Yes, the ending is a punch in the gut, but that's what makes it memorable! Jack and Jill's chemistry during the quarantine felt so real and raw—I was rooting for them the whole time. The car wash scene and the way they just exist in each other's space is exactly how lockdown romances felt. Give it a chance with an open heart.

This had so much promise until the last episode threw everything away. Jack's 180-degree personality change is completely unearned, and the twist feels like a cheap trick rather than a smart narrative choice. I didn't buy Jill's sudden violent reaction either—it went against his passive character. The production and acting are decent for DIY, but the writing torpedoes all that goodwill.

I couldn't enjoy this because of the glaring consent issues. The first sexual encounter happens when Jill is clearly drunk and barely conscious—that's not a 'one-night stand,' that's questionable at best. Then Jack deliberately manipulates a vulnerable guy who just wants connection. The series tries to pass this off as romantic angst, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. There's a difference between messy and toxic.

For a micro-budget web series, the visuals are surprisingly polished. The scene transitions—like the match cut between locations in episode 4—showed real directorial care. The lighting in the shower and car wash scenes is soft and intimate without being overdone. It's not cinema-grade, but it's far from the usual shaky-cam mess you see in indie BLs. A treat for the eyes if you can overlook the story flaws.

The main song in this series is absolutely lovely—it captures that bittersweet quarantine longing perfectly. The background music is subtle and never overpowers the scenes, which is rare for a low-budget BL. I actually looked up the track after finishing because it stayed in my head. Music buffs will appreciate how the OST elevates the emotional beats even when the writing stumbles.
