If I Love a Boy is a tender Thai anthology series that captures the raw, fleeting emotions of adolescent love through five standalone short films. Each vignette explores a different facet of first love and sexual awakening among teenage boys: a secret crush on a classmate, the fear of coming out, a confession to a straight best friend, a love triangle, and the struggle to accept a friend's sexuality. With a poetic, minimalist style and a focus on unspoken feelings, the series offers a nostalgic glimpse into the confusion and innocence of young romance. While the acting is raw and the storytelling deliberately ambiguous, the high production values and sincere performances create a deeply evocative viewing experience. Perfect for fans of subtle, character-driven BL shorts.

I absolutely loved these sweet little vignettes! Sure, the acting is a bit stiff, but the pure, innocent chemistry between the boys melted my heart. It reminded me exactly what it felt like to have a first crush—awkward, terrifying, and beautiful. If you want something gentle and nostalgic, this is perfect.

I see what the director was trying to do, but the stories just left me confused instead of moved. The long silences and vague endings felt more like a lack of direction than artistic minimalism. Each short could have used another 10 minutes to actually conclude something. Not terrible, but unsatisfying as a narrative.

Visually, this series is a hidden gem. The color grading, the framing of those long moments of eye contact, the way the camera lingers on faces—it's all beautifully done. The production quality far exceeds most student projects. I only wish the storytelling matched the cinematic ambition. Still, a treat for the eyes.

As a depiction of adolescent sexual awakening and identity, this anthology handles its themes with surprising sensitivity. The boys' hesitation, confusion, and fear of rejection are all too real. I appreciated that it didn't push for happy endings but showed the messy reality of figuring out who you are. A meaningful watch for those interested in queer youth narratives.

The background score is subtle but effective—soft piano pieces that heighten the emotional weight of each silence. The music doesn't overshadow the visuals, which is a plus, but I wish there was a distinct theme song or more variety. Still, it sets the right melancholic tone for these fleeting love stories.
