Set against the vibrant yet intimate backdrop of Metro Manila, *I Love You. Thank You.* is a raw and heartfelt Filipino indie film that dives headfirst into the messy, confusing, and achingly beautiful realities of quarter-life crisis. The story weaves together the lives of three twenty-somethings—each lost, jaded, and craving purpose—whose paths collide in unexpected ways. At its core is a tender, complicated love triangle between two gay men and a woman, exploring the blurred lines between friendship, gratitude, and romantic love. As they navigate failed dreams, family pressures, and the weight of societal expectations, the trio discovers that saying 'I love you' isn't always about romance—and that sometimes 'thank you' carries an even deeper, more healing meaning. Shot with a naturalistic, documentary-like intimacy, the film captures the quiet moments of connection, heartbreak, and self-discovery that define young adulthood. With its honest portrayal of queer relationships and the universal search for identity, this drama offers a poignant, bittersweet experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

I went in expecting a typical love triangle, but what I got was so much more. The way the two male leads look at each other—those unspoken moments of gratitude and longing—absolutely wrecked me. It's not a perfect romance, but it feels real. That's rare.

I appreciate the film's intentions, but the narrative drags quite a bit in the middle. The love triangle never fully resolves in a satisfying way, and some of the side characters feel like cardboard cutouts. Still, the central performances are strong enough to keep you watching.

Visually, this film is a quiet masterpiece. The use of natural light, the cramped but intimate framing in small Manila apartments, the way the camera lingers on faces—it all serves the story. Every frame feels like a photograph you want to remember.

I appreciate that the film doesn't sensationalize queer desire; it presents it as just another facet of everyday life. However, the power dynamics in the love triangle felt a bit uneven, and I wish the female character had more agency. Still, it's a valuable snapshot of mid-2010s Filipino queer storytelling.

The music is sparse but perfectly placed. A few acoustic guitar pieces and ambient city sounds create this melancholic atmosphere that sticks with you. I wish the official soundtrack was available somewhere—I'd listen to it on repeat.
