The love story of An Zi Yan and Mai Ding continues in this emotionally charged sequel, where the young couple decides to take a romantic getaway to sunny Sanya. On the plane, they meet another pair who uncannily mirror their own relationship dynamics, setting off a chain of revelations and challenges. Back home, the real world comes crashing down as both families—especially Mai Ding's mother—vocally oppose their relationship, forcing the boys to fight tooth and nail for their love. With heart-wrenching confrontations, laugh-out-loud moments (wait until Mai Ding meets Zi Yan's grandfather!), and surprisingly explicit romantic scenes for a Chinese production, this film balances lighthearted banter with heavy-hitting drama. It’s a raw, passionate exploration of queer love against familial and societal pressure, packed with the sizzling chemistry and witty back-and-forth that fans adored in Part 1.

I absolutely loved this sequel! The chemistry between An Zi Yan and Mai Ding is off the charts. Their banter, the intimate scenes, the way Zi Yan softens for Mai Ding – it's everything I wanted. I cried and laughed so much. The kissing is top-notch! Highly recommend watching the uncut version.

While the acting improved from season 1, the plot is a mess. The sudden acceptance by Mai Ding's parents feels forced, and the cliffhanger ending is infuriating knowing there's no season 3. The side couple subplot with the beach couple went nowhere. Disappointing after a strong start.

I appreciate the show tackling family rejection and societal homophobia, but some of the coercive dynamics in the intimate scenes made me uncomfortable. The power imbalance between Zi Yan's dominance and Mai Ding's yielding is problematic. Still, the representation of a gay couple fighting for love is valuable.

The soundtrack in this film is beautiful! The ballads during emotional scenes really hit hard. I loved the use of classic songs – even a Beyonce track made me laugh. The music adds so much to the romantic atmosphere. I've been replaying the OST on loop.

The production value improved from season 1, but the lighting is still amateurish – why are all interior lights on even during daytime? And that empty frame in Mai Ding's house is distracting. However, the Sanya beach scenes are nicely shot. Could be much better.
