When heartbroken architect Jom travels to Chiang Mai to renovate a historic house by the Ping River, he stumbles upon a chest filled with old drawings that feel hauntingly familiar. Hoping to mend his fractured relationship, he instead finds himself inexplicably transported back to the 1920s, where he becomes a servant in the same mansion he was meant to restore. There, he meets Khun Yai, the gentle and bookish heir of the household, who is as captivated by Jom's mysterious presence as Jom is by Yai's quiet strength. As they navigate the rigid hierarchies, dark family secrets, and colonial tensions of 1920s Siam, their forbidden bond deepens into a love that defies time itself. This exquisitely crafted period romance blends breathtaking cinematography, soul-stirring performances, and a time-travel twist that will leave you reaching for tissues. Based on the beloved novel 'The Fragrance of Love,' the series immerses viewers in a world where every lingering glance and stolen touch carries the weight of destiny—and the bitter knowledge that Jom may not be able to stay.

I am absolutely wrecked. Nonkul and Bright’s chemistry is otherworldly—every glance, every brush of fingers, every teary confession felt like my own heart was breaking. This is the kind of love story that makes you believe in soulmates. I ugly-cried through the last three episodes. A perfect 10.

The visual storytelling here is genius. The way they use soft focus and dirty framing to separate Jom (blurry, ghostly) from the sharp reality of the 1920s—it’s like watching a memory form. The color grading alone deserves awards. Every scene is so meticulously composed I had to pause just to admire the shots.

I wanted to love this, but the ending frustrated me. The finale is rushed and confusing—if you haven’t read the novel, you’ll be lost. Also, the side plots (especially the family drama) drag on while the main couple’s relationship stays surface-level for too long. Beautiful to look at, but the writing needed tighter focus. 6/10.

As a huge fan of Violet Rain’s novel, I was nervous, but the adaptation mostly delivers. They expanded the side characters beautifully—especially the lesbian couple—and kept the iconic dialogues intact. My only gripe is the finale deviates too much; the novel’s explanation for present-day Yai is clearer. Still, a worthy adaptation that respects the source material.

I appreciate how the show doesn’t romanticize the 1920s—it shows the brutal realities of class and gender oppression. The graphic depiction of marital rape and abuse is uncomfortable but necessary to underscore the stakes. However, I wish the narrative gave more agency to the female victims and didn’t resolve their arcs so neatly. Overall, a thoughtfully uncomfortable watch.
