Hurt is a poignant Singaporean short film that dives deep into the fragile moments after a life-altering confession. Chris has just received his test results and must now decide how to tell his boyfriend, Jonathan, about an unforgivable mistake. The weight of betrayal, fear of rejection, and the desperate need for comfort collide as Chris stands on the precipice of losing his soul mate. With its compact runtime, the film zeroes in on raw emotion—each glance and pause laden with unspoken pain. It captures the isolating reality of facing homophobia and the strain that secrets place on love. Hurt isn’t about the mistake itself but about the harrowing choice to be vulnerable and honest when everything is at stake. This is a story for anyone who has ever wondered if forgiveness is possible when trust is shattered.

I appreciate the attempt at a serious drama, but the forgiveness came way too easily. He cheats, confesses, and gets forgiven in the same conversation? That's not how relationships work. The acting was decent, but the writing needed more tension and consequence. Hurt me more with the plot holes than the emotional beats.

Okay, I know the forgiveness is quick, but I still felt for these characters. The way Chris looks at Jonathan—you can see how terrified he is to lose him. Their chemistry is real and raw. I wish it were longer so we could see them work through it, but for a short film, it packs an emotional punch. I cried.

I have issues with how the betrayal is handled. The film glosses over the breach of trust, and the emotional labor of forgiveness falls entirely on Jonathan without showing any real effort from Chris. Also, the homophobia subplot felt tacked on. It raises important topics but doesn't do them justice. Worth a watch for discussion, but not for comfort.

Visually, this short is striking. The close-ups, the lighting in the apartment—every frame feels intentional. They use silence and space to convey loneliness really well. The story might be rushed, but the cinematography elevates the emotional weight. I just wish the script matched the visual ambition.
