Jung-hyeok is a young man living a quiet, closeted life in Seoul, secretly pining for a married male friend. When his college acquaintance Soo-jin, a lesbian facing financial crisis, suddenly proposes a marriage of convenience, he's thrown into a moral dilemma. Together with his openly gay friend Hee-seong, Jung-hyeok begins to unravel the true motives behind Soo-jin's proposal—and in doing so, confronts the deep compromises queer people must often make to survive in a heteronormative society. This tender South Korean short film uses minimal dialogue and subtle camera work to explore themes of identity, friendship, and the quiet courage it takes to live authentically. Through its two queer leads, *How to Get Low Income* offers a poignant reflection on the invisible choices and sacrifices that define LGBTQ+ lives, all wrapped in a bittersweet, slice-of-life comedy.

I absolutely adored the quiet chemistry between Jung-hyeok and Soo-jin. It's not a typical romance, but their friendship felt so real and tender. The ending left me emotional—sometimes love isn't about a big confession, but about showing up for each other. Beautiful little film.

The concept is interesting, but the execution feels rushed. The marriage proposal plotline is resolved too quickly, and we never really get to know Soo-jin's backstory. It's a decent short, but it left me wanting more substance and character development.

What stands out to me is how the film handles the compromises queer people make just to get by. The 'marriage of convenience' trope is used thoughtfully here, highlighting financial vulnerability and the pressure to stay closeted. It's not perfect, but it's an honest conversation starter.

This is a masterclass in minimalist directing. Every shot is deliberate—the cramped apartments, the awkward silences, the way characters occupy the same space but never quite touch. The color palette is muted but warm. It's the kind of film you watch twice to catch all the visual metaphors.

The soundtrack is sparse but effective—a few piano notes that mirror the loneliness of the characters. I wish there had been a bit more music to underscore the emotional beats, but what's there is subtle and suits the film's quiet tone.
