Set against the backdrop of the pandemic, *How I Let You Go* follows Lucas, a senior high school student grappling with a broken heart and academic failure. After a painful breakup, he spirals into isolation, struggling to find the motivation to re-take the subjects he failed—subjects that now threaten his graduation. As Lucas reluctantly confronts his emotions and the ghosts of his past relationship, he begins a tentative journey of self-discovery, leaning on unexpected friendships and the quiet resilience of youth. This poignant three-episode miniseries captures the raw, messy reality of teenage heartbreak and the slow, aching process of learning to let go, all while navigating the pressures of school and an uncertain future. It's a tender, slice-of-life story that proves sometimes the bravest thing you can do is choose yourself.

I went into this expecting just another short BL, but Lucas's story completely wrecked me. The way they showed heartbreak during lockdown felt so painfully real—I cried twice. Harold Quemado Jr. delivered such a raw performance. If you want something that actually makes you feel, watch this.

It's okay for a short series, but the pacing is sluggish even for three episodes. The emotional beats are there, but the script needed more tightening. Also, the 'pandemic' backdrop feels underutilized—more telling than showing. Not a waste of time, but not memorable either.

The cinematography is surprisingly good for a low-budget web series. Soft lighting, intimate close-ups, and the muted color palette perfectly matched Lucas's emotional state. A few scenes felt like they were made for a photo album. I wish the blocking was a bit more dynamic, but for a debut, it's impressive.

I appreciate how the series handles consent and emotional boundaries—especially in the flashback where Lucas says 'no' to pushing his feelings aside. The focus on mental health and the pressure to 'move on' is handled with care. However, I wish they'd explored the ex-boyfriend's perspective more to avoid a one-sided narrative.

That piano track that plays during Lucas's breakdown scenes? I've been replaying it on loop for weeks. The music is subtle but haunting, perfectly underscoring the loneliness. Even the sound design—like the muffled Zoom call audio—added to the atmosphere. More BLs should pay this much attention to their soundtrack.
