When troublemaker Xia Yu Hao is strong-armed into joining his high school's volleyball team as punishment for his antics, he never expects to find his world completely upended. Under the stern tutelage of team manager Qiu Zi Xuan—a dedicated senior nursing a past injury and a closed-off heart—Yu Hao's rebellious exterior slowly cracks. What begins as a clash of attitudes transforms into a tender, electrifying push-and-pull as Yu Hao's unfiltered affection and relentless charm chip away at Zi Xuan's guarded walls. Set against the backdrop of rigorous training, team camaraderie, and the countdown to a crucial match, this eight-episode gem balances swoon-worthy romantic tension with genuine emotional growth. The series also weaves in a second couple: stepbrothers Zhen Wu and Zhen Wen, whose quiet, complicated bond adds another layer of sweetness and angst. With naturalistic performances, a pair of unforgettable kisses (including the legendary net kiss), and a message that love is defined not by gender but by the simple truth of 'like,' HIStory2: Crossing the Line is a quintessential high school BL that captures the thrill of first love and the courage it takes to chase both your dreams and your heart.

I can't even put into words how perfect this series is. The main couple, Xia Yu Hao and Qiu Zi Xuan, have this electric chemistry that had me squealing every episode. That kiss through the volleyball net? Iconic. Absolutely iconic. And the way Yu Hao goes from being a cocky troublemaker to this soft, devoted boyfriend... my heart can't take it. The stepbrother side couple was also super cute—I know some people have issues with that trope, but I found their quiet moments really touching. If you want a feel-good BL that will leave you grinning like an idiot, this is it.

It's a solid series overall, but let's be honest: the plot is wafer-thin. The volleyball aspect is basically window dressing—we see barely one real match. Yu Hao's personality shift from 'bad boy' to 'puppy dog' happens way too fast without enough on-screen development. And the stepbrother couple, while well-acted, felt like an unnecessary distraction from the main romance. Still, the leads have undeniable chemistry, and the writing is miles better than most BLs. I just wish they had a couple more episodes to flesh everything out naturally. Worth a watch, but manage expectations.

Okay, I know I'm in the minority here, but I actually watched this for the stepbrother couple! Zhen Wu and Zhen Wen stole every single scene they were in. Their dynamic is so nuanced—the tension, the unspoken feelings, the way they protect each other... I could have watched an entire series just about them. The main couple is great too, don't get me wrong, but for me, the side couple brought the emotional depth. If you're a fan of complicated, angsty romance with a redemption arc, you'll adore them. Just ignore the 'stepbrother' label and enjoy the beautiful acting.

I have to talk about the music because no one else does! The opening theme and the piano-heavy background score are gorgeous—they perfectly capture the bittersweetness of young love. There's a piece that plays during Zi Xuan's solo jump serve practice that gave me chills. The insert song during the final confession scene? Beautifully synced. My only complaint is that there aren't more tracks available on streaming—I would buy the OST in a heartbeat. The series itself is sweet and charming, but the music elevates it to something truly memorable.

This is the high school BL I've always wanted! No annoying girlfriends, no over-the-top evil parents—just two boys falling in love. Yu Hao is such a refreshing lead: he's openly affectionate, never hides his feelings, and pursues Zi Xuan with this adorable mix of confidence and vulnerability. And Zi Xuan's gradual thawing is so rewarding to watch. I've rewatched the net kiss scene at least twenty times. It's short but perfectly paced, and the ending leaves you with a big, warm smile. If you're new to BL, start here. If you're a veteran, you'll still love it.

For a low-budget web series, Crossing the Line is visually impressive. The volleyball court scenes are lit with a warm, golden-hour glow that makes everything feel nostalgic. The close-ups during tense moments—especially the way the camera captures the sweat on their faces and the intensity in their eyes—are wonderfully intimate. The net kiss is framed like a shot from a high-end indie film. Sure, some transitions are a bit choppy, and the side couple's scenes feel cramped, but overall, the cinematography punches above its weight class. A visual treat for BL fans who appreciate good framing.

I appreciate that this series focuses on mutual affection and clear consent. There's no coercion, no problematic power dynamics (the 'trainer' and 'trainee' relationship is handled respectfully), and neither lead is forced into anything. The stepbrother couple raises some eyebrows, but the show treats them with nuance and doesn't romanticize any actual incest—they're not blood-related and grew up separately. What I find really commendable is how the series normalizes queer love without making it a big coming-out drama. That said, the quick personality shift of the main lead feels a bit unrealistic—people don't change overnight. Still, it's a responsible, feel-good watch.

I can't believe this isn't mentioned more often in 'best BL' lists! Crossing the Line is a masterpiece of simplicity. The acting from Fandy Fan (Yu Hao) is phenomenal—he has these eyes that just radiate pure love. Zach Lu's portrayal of Zi Xuan is equally compelling; you can see his internal struggle and eventual surrender. And can we talk about the locker room scene? Pure comedic gold. The side couple? Also adorable. I've watched dozens of BLs and this one sits comfortably in my top three. If you haven't watched it yet, drop everything and binge it now. You'll thank me later.
