What happens when love transcends not just death, but gender itself? In this delightfully offbeat entry from Taiwan's iconic HIStory franchise, a young woman named Lan Xi dies in a tragic accident—only to wake up in the body of a shy, lonely male college student named Gu Si Ren. With only seven days before her soul disappears forever, she seizes the chance to reconnect with her grieving boyfriend, Mai Ying Xiong (Hero), by making him fall for her new form. But as she navigates male bathroom etiquette, awkward erections, and the hilarious challenges of girl-in-a-guy’s-body, she uncovers secrets about Hero's heart—and her own—that she never expected. Part screwball comedy, part bittersweet romance, *My Hero* dares to ask: if love is truly blind to gender, then what happens when your soul is in the wrong shell? A fast-paced, emotional rollercoaster that packs a surprising punch in just four episodes.

I went in expecting a silly body-swap comedy and came out sobbing. The chemistry between Hero and the guy whose body she possesses is unexpectedly beautiful. Yes, it’s ridiculous, but the final kiss scene destroyed me in the best way. I’ve already rewatched the last episode three times.

The concept is genuinely creative, but the execution is a mess. Pacing is so rushed that major emotional beats feel unearned—Hero moves on from his girlfriend in what feels like two days. Also, the female lead’s homophobic comments are tonally jarring and never properly addressed. Could have been a solid drama if given 12 episodes.

Okay, there’s no action here, but I wanted to see how this anthology kicked off. The comedy is pure cringe—the bathroom scenes had me laughing and cringing at the same time. The ending twist actually surprised me and saved the whole thing from being a total waste. Not my favorite HIStory, but worth one watch.

I found this genuinely uncomfortable. The female lead uses a dead boy’s body without his consent for a week, makes homophobic remarks, and the narrative frames her as sympathetic. Meanwhile, the actual gay male lead (Gu Si Ren) is literally silenced and erased until the very end. It’s a plot device that reduces queer identity to a punchline. Not for me.

The background score really carries the emotional weight here—especially the piano piece that plays during the character’s realizations. It’s not a standout OST compared to later HIStory seasons, but it fits the bittersweet tone perfectly. I also love that they reused the melody in the final scene. Music made the otherwise campy plot feel poignant.
