Set against the sun-drenched coast of Fujisawa, *His: I Didn't Think I Would Fall in Love* is a tender, slow-burn coming-of-age drama that captures the quiet turbulence of first love. Seventeen-year-old Nagisa lives alone in a seaside town, balancing his passion for surfing with a part-time job at a local bathhouse. When the reserved and observant Shun transfers to his school, an unspoken connection begins to form between them. As Nagisa grapples with his own internalized fears and the pressure to conform, Shun's gentle presence forces him to confront feelings he's long tried to bury. More than a romance, this miniseries weaves a heartfelt story about self-acceptance, the courage to be vulnerable, and the beauty of finding someone who sees you for who you truly are. With its authentic portrayal of teenage confusion and the natural rhythm of coastal life, the series invites viewers to slow down and savor every fleeting glance and hesitant word.

This drama made my heart ache in the best way. Shun and Nagisa's slow dance around each other felt so real—I was literally holding my breath during every scene they shared. The rooftop moment absolutely wrecked me. If you love soft, meaningful glances and a love story that unfolds naturally, don't skip this.

I wanted to love this more, but the pacing drags in the middle, and the ending feels rushed. The emotional beats are there, but the show doesn't give enough runtime to fully develop Nagisa's internal conflict. Still, the acting is solid and the seaside atmosphere is lovely. A nice watch, but not groundbreaking.

Visually, this series is a dream. The color grading leans cool and muted, perfectly capturing the melancholic yet hopeful tone. I loved how the camera lingers on the ocean, the empty train platforms, and the subtle changes in lighting to mirror the characters' emotions. The director's restraint is commendable—every frame feels intentional.

What stood out to me was how honestly the series handled Nagisa's internalized homophobia without becoming a tragedy. It doesn't shy away from showing the pain of self-denial, but also shows the quiet support from friends and even the surprisingly progressive parents. The representation here feels thoughtful and human, not tokenistic.

The music in *His* is hauntingly beautiful. The OST by Black Oxygen (and the theme by Onen'only) perfectly complements the gentle, coastal vibe. I especially love how the show uses diegetic sound—waves, footsteps, silence—before slowly introducing the score. It made every emotional peak hit so much harder. I've been replaying the soundtrack ever since.
