Herma is a groundbreaking Filipino BL series that dares to explore love beyond binaries. The story follows a young man named Herma, who is intersex, navigating the turbulent waters of self-discovery and romance. Haunted by the question of whether he can be truly understood, he meets a gay man who sees him not as a mystery to solve, but as a person to love. Their connection is immediate and deeply emotional, but a hidden secret from Herma's past threatens to unravel everything. As they grapple with societal judgment and personal insecurities, the series asks poignant questions about destiny, identity, and acceptance. With only nine episodes, this miniseries packs an emotional punch, offering tender moments of intimacy and raw vulnerability. What makes Herma special is its unflinching focus on the intersex experience—a rare and vital perspective in BL storytelling. The cast delivers heartfelt performances, especially Joshua Encarnacion and Chris John Gadia, whose chemistry feels both genuine and electric. It's a slow-burn romance that will make you root for love in all its beautiful, complicated forms.

I absolutely loved Herma! The chemistry between the leads is so raw and beautiful—I felt every single emotion they went through. Finally, a BL that shows a real intersex story with so much care. I cried, I smiled, I rewatched the kiss scenes multiple times. This is the kind of representation we need more of!

Herma has a noble intention with its intersex lead, but the execution felt a bit rushed. The plot relies heavily on a single secret and the side characters are barely developed. The acting is decent, but the low budget shows in the cinematography and sound. It's a nice try, but I wish they had more episodes to flesh things out.

As someone who rarely sees intersex characters on screen, I was nervous but hopeful. Herma handles the topic with surprising sensitivity. The dialogue around identity and acceptance feels authentic, and the romance avoids fetishization. The show has its flaws in pacing, but the social value here is enormous. Worth watching for the representation alone.

I was struck by some really lovely close-up shots and the way natural lighting was used in intimate scenes. The color palette leans warm and soft, which fits the emotional tone. However, the camera work during dialogue can be a bit static. It's not a visual masterpiece, but for a low-budget web series, it's quite nice to look at.
