What happens when a single, unexpected kiss shatters the carefully constructed boundaries of friendship? 'Heart... Not a Reason' is a lyrical Thai short film that dives headfirst into the messy, beautiful chaos of love that defies all logic. The story follows Toey and Puth, two seemingly straight young men who meet during a double date with their respective girlfriends, May and Ploy. A casual card game leads to a forfeited kiss between the two men, and that fleeting moment of contact unleashes a torrent of suppressed feelings. As they begin a secret, passionate affair, they grapple with confusion, guilt, and an undeniable magnetic pull that forces them to question everything they thought they knew about love and identity. Through tender rooftop conversations, stolen glances, and the haunting melody of a song composed from real events, this short film explores the profound truth that the heart loves without reason. With its delicate cinematography and raw performances from Scott Pannachai Keatkaew and Book Siqaphat, it captures the exhilarating terror of falling for someone you never expected—and the courage it takes to follow your heart anyway.

This short film completely broke me in the best way. The chemistry between Toey and Puth is so raw and believable—I felt every single conflicted glance and whispered confession. The rooftop scene lives in my head rent free. If you want a quick but powerful emotional punch, don't skip this one.

Visually, this short is a little gem. The soft lighting, the framing of the rooftop at dusk, and the way the camera lingers on the characters' faces—it all serves the story beautifully. The director clearly understands that less is more. Not a wasted frame.

I appreciate the attempt at deep emotional storytelling, but the short runtime means we barely get to know the girlfriends or understand their side. The central conflict feels rushed, and some of the dialogue is a bit on the nose. Still, the lead actors carry it with genuine charisma.

The OST 'Hua Jai' by Book is absolutely stunning. It perfectly captures the longing and confusion of falling in love without a reason. I've been replaying it ever since I finished the short. The music elevates every scene to another level. A must-watch for any BL music lover.

I want to love this more than I do. On one hand, it's a beautiful portrayal of queer awakening and the irrationality of love. On the other, the cheating aspect (both leads have girlfriends) is never fully addressed or given consequence. It feels a bit romanticized. Still, the honest depiction of internal conflict is valuable.
