In this delightful 14-minute South Korean short film, college student Sang Min finally gets the chance to live under the same roof as Min Soo, a charismatic senior from sports college whom he's been secretly crushing on. What follows is a sweet, lightly comedic slice-of-life romance built around one very specific obsession: spicy chicken. Sang Min's world revolves around his beloved spicy chicken, a soul food that brings him comfort and joy. But when a small mistake leads his senior to ban the fiery dish from their shared home, Sang Min must navigate the ups and downs of cohabitation, unspoken feelings, and the hilarious lengths he'll go to satisfy his cravings. With a warm, fluffy tone and genuine chemistry between the leads, 'Half a Kiss and Half a Spice' captures the tender tension of a crush blossoming into something more—all while keeping one eye on the dinner table. It's a bite-sized gem that leaves you craving both love and a little bit of heat.

I absolutely adored this little short! The chemistry between Sang Min and Min Soo is off the charts – you can feel the crush from the very first scene. The spicy chicken obsession is hilarious and surprisingly romantic. I wish it was longer, but the sweetness left me with a huge smile. Perfect for a quick fluff fix!

It's cute, but honestly a bit too shallow for my taste. The premise is fun – spicy chicken ban leading to romance – but the story ends right when it gets interesting. The characters are barely developed, and that abrupt finish felt like a cop-out. For a 14-minute film, it's fine, but don't expect any depth.

For a short film, the visual storytelling is impressive. The warm lighting in the shared apartment creates an intimate, cozy vibe that perfectly matches the fluffy tone. I loved the consistent continuity (the clock actually matches the dialogue!) and the way the camera captures the playful faces of the leads. A visual treat despite the short runtime.

I appreciated how the film normalizes a gay crush without drama or trauma – it's refreshing to see a queer romance that's just simple and sweet. However, the power dynamic (senior/junior) isn't really addressed, and the ban on spicy chicken feels a bit controlling, even if played for laughs. Still, it's a harmless watch with positive representation.
