In this tender 12-minute short film, best friends Whale and Talay find their world irrevocably changed the day a clumsy accident leaves Talay with a broken foot. Bound by guilt at first, Whale becomes Talay’s constant companion—carrying his books, scribbling encouragement on his cast, and eventually becoming his closest confidant. As their friendship deepens, unspoken feelings simmer beneath the surface. One jealous moment triggers a panicked confession: Whale kisses Talay, only to be met with shock and rejection. Humiliated and heartbroken, Whale vanishes from Talay’s life without a trace, leaving behind only a note. In the quiet aftermath, Talay must confront his own buried emotions and the haunting question: how long can two people love each other without words, without eye contact, without any interaction at all? A companion music video extends the story, offering a bittersweet resolution. Adapted from the song “Half” and the book “This may be a sad chapter but you are not a sad story,” this beautifully crafted short captures the ache of missed chances and the hope that love can still find its way home.

Earth and Mix are pure magic together. Even in just 12 minutes, they made me feel every ounce of Whale and Talay's love and heartbreak. The way they look at each other—I was in tears by the end. If you love soft, emotional BL, don't miss this gem.

I appreciate the acting and the mood, but Talay's perspective felt off to me. He rejected Whale harshly, then acted like the victim. The ending from the MV doesn't really show that he's ready to give Whale the love he deserves. Felt one-sided. Still, it's short enough to watch once.

The color grading is gorgeous—soft golden tones that make every scene feel like a faded memory. The shot of Talay limping with Whale by his side, the sunlight filtering through the classroom windows… pure visual poetry. A masterclass in showing, not telling.

The song 'Half' is hauntingly beautiful and perfectly captures the longing and regret of the story. When the music swells during the final montage, I got chills. I immediately added it to my playlist. The short film and MV together are a perfect audio-visual experience.

I appreciate the film for showing how fear can make us hurt the ones we love, but I wish it had addressed consent more explicitly. The kiss was forced, and Talay's rejection was understandable. Whale's disappearance felt like an emotional punishment. Still, a good conversation starter for young audiences about emotional maturity.
