Grey Rainbow is a visually stunning and emotionally raw Thai BL that sweeps you away to the lush landscapes of Chiang Mai, where law student Porsche harbors a secret, years-long crush on his dorm roommate Nuer, the easygoing son of an elephant camp owner. Over four carefully crafted episodes, the series traces their journey from close friends to lovers, navigating the turbulent waters of self-acceptance, family pressure, and societal judgment in a country where homosexuality is still stigmatized. What sets Grey Rainbow apart is its breathtaking cinematography, mature dialogue, and refusal to shy away from the messy realities of coming out—including a poignant look at parental reactions and the quiet courage it takes to live one's truth. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, grounded in small, tender moments rather than fan service, making their love feel authentic and earned. Though the series is short, it packs an emotional punch, building toward a bittersweet, controversial finale that has sparked intense debate among fans. This is not a fluffy escape; it's a melancholic, thought-provoking meditation on love, loss, and the fragile beauty of human connection.

I'm honestly obsessed with Nuer and Porsche. Their chemistry is so natural and raw—I felt every single glance and touch. The way they slowly go from friends to lovers had me squealing. Yes, the ending crushed me, but the love story itself is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen in BL. I'll rewatch episodes 1-3 over and over.

I can't overlook the ending. Up until the last 15 minutes, this was a solid 8/10—great acting, gorgeous scenery, realistic struggles. Then they threw in a nonsensical tragedy that served no purpose except shock value. It completely undermined the story's emotional buildup. If you're a plot-driven viewer like me, be warned: the climax is a mess.

This is one of the most visually stunning BL series I've ever seen. The golden-hour shots at the elephant camp, the temple scenes with incense smoke, the soft lighting in the dorm—every frame is wallpaper-worthy. The director clearly has an eye for composition. Even if the story isn't perfect, the artistry alone makes it a must-watch for aesthetics lovers.

I appreciate how this series doesn't sugarcoat the realities of being gay in Thailand—the fear, the family pressure, the need to hide. But I have issues with the way the narrative handles consent and the sudden death felt like a cheap way to avoid a truly happy, empowering resolution. Still, it's a important watch for its honest conversation about homophobia.

The music in Grey Rainbow is hauntingly beautiful. The main theme with its soft guitar and melancholic piano perfectly captures the longing and heartache of the story. The sound design during the quiet, intimate scenes—the rustling leaves, the distant elephants—adds a layer of immersion that most BLs miss. I downloaded the OST immediately after finishing.
