Welcome to a nightmare disguised as a school. On a remote island cut off from the world, a solitary institution houses only students who have proven too problematic for society. When transfer student Homura Itsuki arrives, he finds a small, intense group of teenagers who are members of a theatre club devoted to 'Grand Guignol'—a style of French horror theatre that revels in graphic violence and psychological terror. But soon, a mysterious new teacher arrives, and the line between performance and reality begins to blur. A masked killer starts brutally slaughtering students and faculty one by one, and with the next boat not arriving until morning, there is no escape. As bodies pile up and suspicion festers, Itsuki and his classmates must unravel whether the murders are part of an elaborate show—or if something far more sinister is hunting them. This isn't a romance; it's a visceral, unsettling ride that forces you to question what is staged and what is deadly real.

I came for the gore and got exactly that—and more. The way this film blurs reality and theatre is genius. Every kill is over-the-top, almost comedic, but still gut-wrenching. The shaky cam can be annoying, but the atmosphere is pure dread. If you want romance, stay away; if you want a blood-soaked puzzle, dive in.

I wanted to love this because the concept is interesting, but the execution is a mess. The acting is overly theatrical in a bad way, and the low budget shows in the cheap effects. The plot doesn't make sense even for a horror, and the ending is frustratingly vague. Not scary, just confusing and exploitative.

Visually, this movie is a feast if you appreciate dark, grimy beauty. The lighting and color palette create an oppressive, claustrophobic mood that never lets up. Some shots are genuinely stunning. The story is thin and the acting uneven, but the cinematography alone makes it worth a watch for horror art lovers.

I'm deeply uncomfortable with how this film sexualizes teenagers in a violent context. The erotic undertones feel gratuitous and borderline predatory. There's no meaningful exploration of identity or consent—just shock for shock's sake. It left me feeling gross, not entertained.

If you search this expecting BL romance, you'll be disappointed—there's barely any. But the few moments of queer tension are intense and well-acted, especially between Itsuki and one of the other boys. The horror overshadows everything, but as a dark curiosity with homoerotic flavor, it's oddly compelling.
