A Shin and A Hong are inseparable best friends, but A Shin has secretly fallen for his straight buddy. When A Hong’s selfish, greedy girlfriend pressures him into joining the G-Boys – a flamboyant gay beauty pageant with a 10 million TWD prize – he hatches a plan to pretend to be gay for the cash. What starts as a ridiculous, over-the-top scheme forces the duo into a world of drag queens, campy challenges, and hilarious misunderstandings. As A Hong dives deeper into the contest, his fake persona blurs the lines of his true feelings, while A Shin’s heart aches watching from the sidelines. Packed with eccentric characters, laugh-out-loud absurdity, and a surprisingly tender core, this 2006 Taiwanese gem is a joyful, chaotic ride that celebrates self-discovery and the messy path to love. Don’t expect polish – expect heart, glitter, and a LOT of queenery.

I absolutely adored this movie! Yes, it's messy and over-the-top, but A Shin's pining made my heart ache in the best way. The way they slowly realize their feelings amidst all the drag chaos was so genuine. I rewatched it twice already – pure comfort fluff.

Look, I get why people find this fun, but the plot is a complete mess. The motivation for joining the contest is flimsy, and the girlfriend subplot is cartoonishly evil. The comedy relies on cringe and stereotypes that haven't aged well. It's watchable if you turn your brain off, but don't expect coherence.

The soundtrack is a hidden gem! That early 2000s pop-rock vibe totally takes me back – especially the theme song that plays during the pageant scenes. It amplifies the goofy energy so well. I found myself humming along even when the acting was cheesy. The music honestly made the film for me.

I appreciate that this exists as an early Taiwanese BL comedy, but I can't ignore the casual homophobia presented as humor. The 'pretend to be gay' trope feels dated and a bit exploitative, and the cop character's antics made me cringe. On the plus side, the main friendship is sweet, but the social messaging is lacking.

Visually, it screams low-budget 2000s – grainy video, garish lighting, and chaotic editing. But there's a certain charm in that raw, DIY aesthetic. The drag costumes are fun explosions of color, and a few pageant scenes have surprisingly energetic camera work. It's not pretty, but it's memorable.
