Dive into 'Gen Y', a sprawling Thai BL that expands the beloved universe of '2 Moons' with a fresh, energetic focus. The story kicks off when the charming and determined Mark sets his sights on the seemingly untouchable Dr. Kit from the Faculty of Medicine. Their first encounter is a disaster, but Mark is undeterred, launching a relentless and heart-fluttering pursuit that slowly chips away at Kit's icy exterior. But 'Gen Y' is more than just one couple's journey; it's a vibrant ensemble drama weaving together multiple love stories across a university campus. From the heartbroken Wayu, struggling to move on from a mysterious ex, to the shy Phai and the enigmatic Sandee, each character grapples with destiny, first love, and the supernatural. With a touch of fate-driven visions and a whole lot of emotional baggage, this series explores the messy, beautiful, and often hilarious paths to finding 'the one'—or realizing your soulmate might not be who you expected. It's a chaotic, charming, and unforgettable ride.

I am a complete sucker for Mark and Kit. Their bickering and slow-burn romance had me squealing at my screen every episode. Kimmon and Copter just have this magnetic chemistry that I can't get enough of. Yes, the plot gets messy with all the side couples, but for the main ship alone, this is pure gold. I'll forgive the chaos.

I actually really loved the side couple of Phai and Sandee—they brought this quiet, intense energy that balanced out the main drama. But I have to say, Thanu and Phai's destiny storyline was fascinating until they pulled the same trick with Thanu and Wayu. It felt like the writers couldn't decide. Still, I'm invested in seeing where Sandee's morally grey arc goes in season 2.

This series is a perfect example of great actors wasted on a chaotic script. The pacing is all over the place—Mark and Kit get sidelined after they finally get together, and the main love triangle with Wayu becomes a repetitive sobfest. The supernatural vision thing was introduced without proper build-up and felt tacked on. It started strong but by episode 8 I was just skipping through.

As someone who read the original novel (which was a 2 Moons fanfic), this adaptation took far too many liberties. The author's whole point was to give Wayu more agency and options, but the show turned him into a crying mess who can't function. The book's Wayu was stronger. Also, they cut out a lot of the nuance around Pha's disappearance. Disappointing for purists.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I love that this universe normalizes queer relationships—no one even questions being gay, which is refreshing. But the Pok and Tong storyline is deeply problematic. The power dynamics and lack of clear consent in their 'hate-sex' scenes made me uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Mark and Kit model a much healthier bickering-turned-romance. Worth watching but with a critical eye.
