Fukuhara Kota is a university student cursed with an almost comical degree of misfortune. From falling ceiling tiles to stepping in dog poop, every day is a gauntlet of embarrassing and painful incidents. His constant bad luck has made him a social pariah, resigned to a lonely existence where he expects the worst. That all changes when he literally runs into Shinomiya Naoya, a stunningly handsome classmate who radiates an aura of impossibly good fortune. For the first time in his life, Kota experiences a string of lucky breaks simply by standing near Naoya. Desperate to escape his perpetual bad luck, Kota blurts out a desperate plea: that they always be together. Naoya, who has long been surrounded by people wanting to exploit his luck, misunderstands this as a confession of love—and accepting, declares them boyfriends before Kota can correct him. What follows is a sweetly chaotic journey as Kota, torn between his selfish motive and genuine feelings, stumbles through a fake relationship that quickly feels very real. Naoya, a gentle and patient soul, slowly helps Kota see that luck isn't just about what happens to you—it's about how you choose to see the world. Woven with laugh-out-loud physical comedy, heartfelt inner monologues, and a surprisingly thoughtful exploration of perspective and consent, *Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss!* is a fluffy, feel-good romance that proves even the unluckiest person can find the luckiest love.

I am absolutely obsessed with Kota and Naoya! Their chemistry is off the charts adorable, and every scene made me smile like an idiot. Naoya is the perfect boyfriend—supportive, patient, and just utterly dreamy. And Kota's exaggerated reactions? I live for them! Yes, the ending was a little too chaste for my taste, but the emotional payoff was so worth it. This is my new comfort drama.

The concept is cute, but the execution is frustrating. Kota's internal conflict drags on for three episodes too long, and the will-they-won't-they becomes a repetitive loop. I appreciate the focus on consent, but the lack of any real progression—physical or emotional—makes the finale feel incomplete. Also, Naoya is so perfect he's practically a cardboard cutout. Fun for background noise, but don't expect a satisfying romance arc.

Visually, this series is a treat. The warm, golden tones during Kota and Naoya's good-luck moments contrast beautifully with the desaturated, chaotic shots of Kota's bad luck. The close-ups of Naoya's face—especially those dreamy slow-mo sequences—are gorgeously lit. I also love the attention to set design, like the autumn leaves that feel intentional even if the timeline is confusing. Not every show has to be a cinematic masterpiece, but this one has real visual charm.

Finally, a BL that treats consent as a central theme rather than an afterthought! The series explicitly discusses the importance of asking permission, both in the classroom lecture and in Naoya's patient approach to Kota. The only questionable moment—a non-consensual kiss in the first episode—is actually addressed later on, which I appreciate. However, I wish the show went further in unpacking Naoya's own vulnerability regarding his luck and exploitation. Still, for a fluffy comedy, it's remarkably thoughtful.

As a reader of the original manga, I think the drama captures the essence but misses some nuance. The comedic timing is spot-on, and Kota's over-the-top expressions are true to the source. However, the adaptation waters down some of the emotional beats and rushes the side characters' arcs—especially the GL subplot with Miki and Anna, which felt truncated. The manga also had a slightly more satisfying resolution physically. That said, fans of the manga will still enjoy seeing it come to life, even with the compromises.

The soundtrack is severely underrated! The opening theme has this bright, upbeat synth-pop vibe that perfectly mirrors the 'lucky chance' moment between the leads. The background instrumental during the rooftop confession scene? I teared up. The music really elevates the emotional beats, even when the script drags. I've had the OST on repeat for weeks. If only the show had a longer runtime to let the music breathe in montages!

I came for the chemistry between the main leads, but I stayed for the tiny crumbs of the second couple! Miki and Anna's dynamic is so intriguing—the upbeat, romantic friend vs. the cynical, guarded one. Their brief moments, like the bracelet breaking and the almost-confession, left me craving more. The show barely gives them screen time, which is a huge missed opportunity. Still, for what little we get, it's sweet. I wish the director had cut some of Kota's repetitive inner monologue to give them more space.
