In *Fujimi Orchestra*, Tonoin Kei, a world-renowned conductor with a magnetic presence, returns to Japan and instantly becomes obsessed with Morimura Yuuki, the shy, straight violinist who serves as concertmaster for a struggling amateur orchestra. What begins as a tale of musical passion quickly spirals into a dark study of obsession, coercion, and blurred boundaries. Kei's love is possessive, demanding, and ultimately violent—he rapes Yuuki, yet twists the assault into a twisted declaration of devotion. As Yuuki grapples with his trauma, the orchestra's flutist, Natsuko, whom he secretly loves, dismisses his pain and pushes him to accept Kei's affection. Set against lush orchestral performances and tense rehearsals, this 2012 Japanese film adaptation of a yaoi manga explores the depths of toxic love, victim-blaming, and the devastating cost of artistic brilliance. It is a challenging, uncomfortable watch that prioritizes raw emotional turmoil over romance.

I came hoping for a dark musical drama, but this is just straight-up rape apologism. The scene is excruciatingly long and the narrative never once calls it what it is. The flutist's victim-blaming speech made me sick. I can't believe anyone would call this BL romance.

The plot makes no sense: a genius conductor rapes a man he supposedly loves, then everyone acts like it's a minor hiccup. The acting is wooden, the pacing is off, and the music is the only redeeming factor. A complete waste of potential.

As someone who read the original yaoi manga, this adaptation is faithful—for better or worse. The source material was already problematic, but the live-action adds a rawness that makes it even harder to watch. If you're curious about early yaoi adaptations, this exists, but I can't recommend it.

I'm giving it points for the music alone—the conducting scenes are intense and the classical pieces are beautifully played. But the story? Utterly toxic. I felt sorry for the violinist throughout. If you can separate the art from the awful narrative, you might get something out of it. Most won't.

I have watched many dark BLs, but this crossed every line. The rape is not just a plot point—it's the entire movie's foundation, presented as something to be forgiven. The victim's pain is ignored, and the perpetrator's 'love' is treated as noble. Absolutely disgusting. Do not watch.
