Welcome to Florida Banjeom, a cozy Chinese restaurant perched atop a guesthouse in Seoul, where sizzling noodles and simmering emotions are always on the menu. When college freshman Seo Hae Won moves into the guesthouse, he expects nothing more than a quiet place to study. Instead, he tumbles—literally—into the arms of Baek Eun Gyu, the restaurant's reserved yet intensely passionate chef. That chance encounter sparks an instant, electric connection that neither can ignore, even as Hae Won's sunny, open-hearted nature begins to thaw Eun Gyu's prickly exterior. But the kitchen isn't big enough for two hearts: Cha Ji Soo, Eun Gyu's best friend and co-worker, has also developed feelings for Hae Won, setting off a gentle but painful love triangle that tests a fifteen-year friendship. Over eight bite-sized episodes filled with longing glances, shared cooking lessons, and warm rooftop conversations, 'The Tasty Florida' serves a light, fluffy romance that prioritizes emotional sweetness over complex plotting. It's a series that knows exactly what it is—a visual treat with a soundtrack that makes you hum along, perfect for viewers craving a quick, feel-good escape into a world where love at first sight is just the appetizer.

I'm a complete sucker for love-at-first-sight stories, and this one delivered exactly what I needed. Hae Won and Eun Gyu have this magical, effortless chemistry that made me grin like an idiot every episode. The way Eun Gyu slowly softens around Hae Won is just precious—and that apron-tying scene? Be still my heart. Yes, it's short and simple, but sometimes you just want pure fluff without any heavy drama. The OST is catchy too. I've already rewatched it twice!

I wanted to like this more than I did. The first two episodes hooked me with the nice production and decent chemistry, but by episode 4 it became clear nothing substantial was happening. The love triangle is completely one-sided—anyone with eyes can see Hae Won only likes Eun Gyu, so why drag Ji Soo into pointless angst? The time jump at the end felt cheap and unearned, and the 'lost dad' subplot came out of nowhere. With only 80 minutes total, they could have focused on developing the main relationship instead of throwing in filler. Disappointing, especially after seeing how good K-BLs can be with similar runtimes.

Let's be honest—I watched this mainly because the promotional images were gorgeous, and the show did not disappoint. The color palette is a dream: warm coral tones, mint greens, and soft yellows that make the restaurant feel like a cozy haven. Every shot is framed with care, from the intimate rooftop scenes to the bustling kitchen. Even the actors' outfits are perfectly coordinated with the set. It's not a cinematic masterpiece, but for a low-budget web series, it punches way above its weight visually. The story is standard, but I'll gladly rewatch for the aesthetics alone.

The moment I heard 'Oh La La Oh La La welcome to my Florida' in the first episode, I knew I was in for a treat. That song is ridiculously catchy and perfectly captures the playful, breezy vibe of the series. The rest of the OST is equally charming—light acoustic guitar and synth pop that never overwhelms the scenes. It's one of those rare BLs where I actually added the full soundtrack to my playlist. The only reason I'm not rating higher is that the story itself is too forgettable, but the music elevates everything. If you're an OST nerd like me, give it a shot just for the tunes.

I have to address the elephant in the room: Cha Ji Soo's behavior made me deeply uncomfortable. He constantly invades Hae Won's personal space, makes unsolicited advances, and acts like he has a claim on someone he barely knows. The narrative frames this as cute jealousy, but it's actually textbook love-bombing and boundary crossing. Meanwhile, Hae Won is portrayed as naive and passive, never really confronting Ji Soo or asserting his own agency. For a show that aims to be sweet, it inadvertently normalizes possessive behavior. On top of that, the 'love triangle' is so lopsided it feels like a plot device rather than genuine emotional conflict. I wish the writers had handled these dynamics with more care.

I came for the main couple but stayed for the crumbs of Ha Jin and Joo Seo Hyuk. These two barely have any screen time, but their quiet moments—like that one scene where they share a knowing look—made me wish the series had focused on them instead. They had more natural chemistry in 30 seconds than the main couple had in entire episodes. It's a shame because the restaurant setting could have supported multiple love lines. As it is, the side characters are wasted. If you're looking for a fully realized second couple, this isn't it. But if you squint really hard, you might catch a glimpse of what could have been.
