Book is the perfect top student—diligent, reserved, and always following the rules. But beneath his model-student exterior lies a secret: he's ventured into the world of online dating, craving a connection beyond textbooks and grades. When his teacher assigns him a new responsibility—looking after the charismatic, trouble-magnet Flame—Book never expects that the mysterious Flame from his dating app is the very same person he's now charged with mentoring. What begins as a clash of opposites—the disciplined nerd and the reckless player—quickly spirals into a forbidden romance full of stolen glances and electric tension. As they navigate the blurred lines between obligation and desire, Book must decide if he's willing to risk his perfect reputation for a love that could burn everything down. This short-form vertical series packs an emotional punch, capturing the thrill of secret love and the danger of getting too close. With just 20 bite-sized episodes, Flame Book offers a quick, addictive binge-watch for fans of classic Thai BL tropes with a modern, edgy twist.

I wanted to love this because the actors have potential, but the consent issues are impossible to overlook. Book saying 'no' and being ignored, then the coercion right after? That's not steamy—that's troubling. On top of that, the bisexual player stereotype is tired and harmful. A solid premise ruined by outdated tropes.

Okay yes, the consent stuff is messy, but can we talk about Sun and Prem's chemistry? They literally set the screen on fire. I loved the tension of Book keeping his secret while having to 'look after' Flame. The vertical format was weird at first but actually perfect for my phone. I need a season 2 ASAP!

The pacing is a disaster. They go from 'I'll never date you' to 'we're boyfriends' in what feels like a single scene. I blinked and missed all the character development. The comedy sound effects are cringey and don't fit the serious moments. Feels like a rushed fan edit rather than a proper drama.

As someone who loved the original Frame & Book couple in Make It Right, this is a disappointing remake. They kept the player/nerd dynamic but stripped away all the nuance. The new scenes feel forced, and the vertical filming makes it look like a phone ad. Still, I appreciate that they tried to modernize it—just needed more time.

I get that vertical dramas are trendy, but the framing here is claustrophobic. So many scenes feel cramped, and the lighting is flat and amateurish. There were a few nice close-ups on the actors' eyes, but overall the cinematography didn't do justice to the story's emotional beats. A better director of photography could have elevated this.
