In the heart of Seoul's bustling entertainment district, Kim Hong Soo, a celebrated screenwriter known for tear-jerking soap operas, finds himself creatively stagnant. Enter Jeong Dae Man, a brilliant but reclusive writer whose raw, unfiltered prose has captured Hong Soo's attention. Eager to collaborate, Hong Soo invites Dae Man to his office for a meeting that quickly transcends professional boundaries. As they discuss storytelling, passion, and the art of capturing human emotion, an unspoken tension simmers between them. This short, intimate film captures a single afternoon where two creative souls collide—where vulnerability meets ambition, and quiet longing meets the courage to express it. With delicate cinematography and nuanced performances, 'First Time' is a poignant exploration of connection, inspiration, and the fragility of opening one's heart, all set against the backdrop of the narrative craft that defines their lives.

I absolutely adored the quiet chemistry between the two leads. For a short film, it managed to say so much without words. The longing in their eyes and the way they talked about writing—it felt so real and raw. Definitely a hidden gem for romance lovers.

The cinematography here is stunning for such a small production. Every frame feels intentionally composed—the muted colors, the soft natural light filtering through the office blinds. It’s a visual poem, even if the story itself is a bit thin. I’d watch it just for the look and feel.

I wanted to like this more, but the pacing was glacial and not much happened. The characters talk about writing for so long without really showing any progression. The emotional payoff felt underdeveloped. It's fine as a mood piece, but as a story it left me cold.

I appreciate the attempt at grounded queer representation in Korean media, but the power dynamic between the established screenwriter and the younger writer felt unbalanced. There's a subtle lack of explicit consent around the romantic advance, which bothered me. Still, it's a step forward for visibility.

The background music and subtle sound design really set the tone for this film. There's a melancholic piano theme that repeats during the emotional beats—it's understated but effective. The OST isn't available separately, which is a shame because I'd stream it on repeat.
