Zhang Jia Wei and Chen Zhi Hao have been together for three years, their once-fiery romance now dulled by routine and unspoken resentments. Just as their relationship teeters on the brink, the magnetic and dangerously possessive He Ye enters their lives, drawn inexplicably to both men. He Ye's relentless pursuit shatters the fragile peace, forcing Jia Wei and Zhi Hao to confront the cracks in their love and the true nature of desire. This raw, intimate Chinese drama from 2009 strips away gloss to explore the messy reality of long-term gay relationships, jealousy, and the thrilling terror of new obsession. A must-watch for fans of unflinching emotional realism and complex erotic tension.

I was completely wrecked by Jia Wei and Zhi Hao's crumbling love. The way He Ye just slides in and ignites everything—it's messy and painful but so achingly real. The chemistry between all three is electric. I ugly-cried at the ending.

The emotional core is strong, but the pacing drags in the middle, and some of He Ye's motivations feel underdeveloped. Why is he so obsessed? The film never quite explains. Still, it's a rare honest look at queer relationships and worth watching for the performances.

The grainy 2009 digital footage gives this an almost documentary-like intimacy. Every close-up of a trembling hand or a half-lit face adds layers of unspoken emotion. The color palette shifts from warm domestic tones to cold blues as the tension rises—beautiful, deliberate work.

The ambient sound design is more effective than the actual music—silences and street noise carry the weight. There's one recurring piano motif that haunts me, but the overall score is sparse. I wish they'd commissioned a fuller soundtrack to match the emotional highs.

I appreciate the film's bravery in showing a non-traditional relationship dynamic, but He Ye's possessiveness crosses into unhealthy coercion without enough critique. The power imbalance is portrayed as romantic rather than troubling. For 2009 it's progressive, but today it feels dated.
