What happens when a struggling professional soccer team is bought out by a talent agency looking to turn a profit? FC Soldout throws together a group of mismatched athletes, actors, and idols, forcing them to become teammates—and maybe lovers. At the heart of this fluffy, low-budget series is the deliciously complicated relationship between Do Ji Woo, a dedicated soccer player, and Yoo Gang Jae, a celebrity idol who just joined the team. Unbeknownst to each other, they've been secret fans for years. What starts as awkward tension soon blossoms into a sweet, comedic enemies-to-lovers romance. With two other couples simmering in the background—including a charming former idol and the team's caring captain—this series is a lighthearted, feel-good ride about found family, self-discovery, and the messy joy of falling for your biggest fan. Perfect for viewers who want a quick, cute watch without heavy drama.

I absolutely adored this! The secret fanboy premise had me grinning from ear to ear. Ji Woo and Gang Jae are so adorable together—their awkwardness, their little smiles, the way they slowly realize they're each other's biggest fan. It's pure comfort food. Yes, the plot is nonsense, but who cares when the romance is this sweet? I binged it in one night and felt so warm inside.

Okay, I'm only here for Seon Bin and Tae Young. They deserved SO much more screen time! The way Tae Young just accepts Seon Bin's sexuality without blinking, and how he quietly takes care of him—that's the real love story. Their chemistry is electric. If the whole show had been about them, it would've been a 10. Still, I'm grateful for what we got.

I wanted to love this, but the plot is a mess. An entertainment agency buying a football team and replacing half the players with idols who can't play? And then they barely show any actual matches? The time jumps and random flashbacks made my head spin. The romance is cute, sure, but I need a coherent story too. It feels like they improvised half the scenes. Passable if you're not thinking, but I was thinking.

I have to mention the production value—or lack thereof. Some shots looked like they were filmed on a smartphone with terrible angles and harsh lighting. The locker room scenes are a claustrophobic mess. That said, the actors do their best with what they have, and there are a few genuinely well-framed moments (the hug with the standee made me laugh). But visually, this is a step down even for low-budget K-BL. Could have used a proper color grade.

I appreciate that the show touches on serious issues like non-consensual photo sharing and forced outing, even if briefly. The way Seon Bin openly says he dates boys and the team doesn't bat an eye is refreshing—no internalized homophobia drama. But I wish they had spent more time on the emotional aftermath of those violations instead of rushing past them. Still, for a fluffy 8-episode series, it handles consent better than many longer dramas.
