Meet Fred, Jane, and Paul in a tender, groundbreaking Filipino BL film that redefines the meaning of family and love. Fred is a devoted father whose world turns upside down when his daughter Jane announces her engagement to Paul—the man Fred secretly loves. As wedding preparations unfold, all three must navigate a tangled web of unspoken feelings, fierce loyalty, and heart-wrenching sacrifices. This isn't just a love story; it's a bold exploration of what it means to put someone else's happiness before your own, even when your heart is breaking. With nuanced performances from JP Lopez, Nelvin Joseph Adriatico, and Enzo Santiago, *Father and the Bride* challenges traditional norms and celebrates queer love in all its messy, beautiful forms. Expect tears, laughter, and a finale that will leave you deeply moved. A must-watch for anyone who believes that love—in any shape—is worth fighting for.

I was absolutely sobbing by the end. JP Lopez and Nelvin have this incredible, painful chemistry that made every scene feel like a punch to the heart. The way Fred looks at Paul—wow. This is the kind of angsty, beautiful love story I live for. If you want a film that makes you feel everything, watch this.

The acting is solid and the premise is intriguing, but the pacing drags in the middle and some of the emotional beats feel forced. I wanted more exploration of Paul's perspective—he's kind of a blank slate. Still, it's a decent watch if you're in the mood for a slow-burn family drama. Just don't expect a masterpiece.

The cinematography is stunning—soft lighting, intimate close-ups, and beautiful framing of Filipino landscapes. Every shot of the wedding preparations felt like a painting. The color grading shifts subtly as emotions change. Even if the story isn't perfect, the visual storytelling alone deserves applause.

I appreciate that the film tackles complicated feelings without villainizing anyone. Fred's internal struggle and his decision to prioritize his daughter's happiness over his own desires is handled with care. However, I wish there was more explicit conversation about consent and boundaries, especially given the power dynamics. Still, a progressive step for Filipino BL.

The soundtrack is phenomenal! Every acoustic guitar piece and melancholic piano melody perfectly mirrors the characters' emotions. There's a song that plays during the wedding rehearsal scene that still gives me chills. I've been streaming it on repeat. The music alone makes this film worth watching.
