University student Wan lives a double life—by day, a regular guy; by night, a devoted fanboy who lives for capturing every perfect shot of rising star Nine. When a casting opportunity lands him a support role in a Y-series alongside his idol, Wan’s dream seems within reach. But on set, he collides with Third, a sharp-tongued actor who seems determined to burst his bubble. What starts as a clash of worlds—obsessive fandom vs. jaded professionalism—slowly thaws into something neither expected. As cameras roll and boundaries blur, Wan must navigate not just his feelings for Nine, but an undeniable connection with the very person who challenges everything he thought he knew. With a love triangle brewing behind the scenes, *Mr. Fanboy* serves up a heartfelt, meta look at the messy intersection of idol worship, self-discovery, and the real meaning of love.

I am absolutely in love with Wan and Third! Their bickering turned into such tender moments—I squealed every time they accidentally touched. The fandom realism was spot-on too. This is the enemies-to-lovers content I live for!

The premise is cute and the cultural commentary on fandom is interesting, but the pacing drags in the middle episodes and the love triangle feels forced. Wan’s indecision got frustrating. Still, the leads have decent chemistry and the ending is satisfying enough.

Visually, this series is a treat—the warm color grading, the soft focus on Wan’s photographs, and the contrast between the bright fanboy world and the muted backstage areas. Every frame could be a poster. The directing really knows how to capture longing.

I appreciate that the show tries to critique unhealthy obsession, but Wan’s initial boundary-pushing as a fan is brushed over too quickly. Third’s consent is handled better as the series goes on. Good intentions, but I wish the power dynamics were addressed more directly.

As someone who read the novel, the adaptation softens a lot of Third’s edges, which is a shame because his snark in the book was iconic. Wan’s internal monologue is also more subdued here. Still, the core romance survives, and the casting is well-done.
