In *Exclusive Love*, a fresh and unexpected Taiwanese BL series, meet Wang Zhan, the reluctant and ghost-fearing heir to a funeral home who would rather sing than plan burials. When his brother orchestrates a hilariously dark kidnapping, Wang Zhan is thrust into the reluctant tutelage of Tang Du Zhi, a stoic and devastatingly handsome ace funeral director. What begins as a forced, coercive training regimen (complete with unorthodox methods and simmering tension) slowly blossoms into a story of two broken men finding solace in each other. As Tang Du Zhi uses his grief-counseling techniques on Wang Zhan, the lines between teacher and student, kidnapper and victim, blur into a tender, slow-burn romance. Meanwhile, a charming side couple of wedding planners, Tu Jing He and Zhang Yi Qing, navigate their own angsty, years-long secret crush amidst arranged marriages and wedding sabotage. With stunning cinematography that contrasts the solemn beauty of funeral rites with the vibrancy of Taiwanese landscapes, *Exclusive Love* is a unique blend of dark comedy, emotional trauma, and healing love that dares to ask: can love bloom even in the most forbidden of circumstances?

I have to admit, the visuals saved this show for me. Every frame is like a painting—the lighting in the funeral home, the soft focus on the leads' faces, the gorgeous landscape shots. The OST is also beautifully melancholic. Too bad the plot didn't match the visual quality; it felt like a messy photo album with no album title.

I only kept watching for the second couple. Tu Jing He and Zhang Yi Qing had me kicking my feet—the angst, the secret crush, the wedding sabotage! They deserved more screen time. The main couple's dynamic started off toxic with the kidnapping, but the side couple was pure emotional gold. Give them their own series, please!

This drama wasted its potential. The funeral home angle was barely explored, the kidnapping setup was ridiculous for a grown man, and the main romance felt forced with zero chemistry. I kept waiting for a coherent storyline, but instead got a loop of unresolved subplots and convenient confessions. Skip it.

I absolutely adored this! Yes, the beginning is messy and the kidnapping is questionable, but once you get past that, the slow-burn romance between Tang Du Zhi and Wang Zhan is everything. Their emotional journey, the healing from trauma, and that final NC scene in episodes 11-12? Perfection. I rewatched those scenes so many times. The chemistry is undeniable.

I can't get past the central premise: a grown man is kidnapped and coerced into a job, then falls for his captor. The show tries to frame this as a romance, but it's textbook romanticization of Stockholm syndrome. The non-consensual touches and emotional manipulation are brushed aside for fanservice. I'm disappointed that Taiwan BL still relies on such harmful tropes.
