Kazuma and Hiroyuki are a musical duo on the cusp of celebrating their one-year anniversary with a special live show. They've been pouring their hearts into composing an original song that captures their journey together. But on the night they planned to finalize it, Kazuma vanishes without a trace. Hiroyuki is left frustrated, confused, and hurt—unable to fathom why his partner and closest friend would abandon their shared dream. As he retraces their steps through the cozy café where they often rehearsed, fragments of unspoken feelings surface. This short film weaves together music and emotion, exploring the delicate tension between creative partnership and a hidden crush. With limited dialogue and a soulful soundtrack, 'Esola' captures the quiet ache of longing and the power of a song left unfinished. It's a poignant glimpse into a love that may never have been voiced.

I'm a sucker for quiet, music-driven romances, and Esola hit me right in the heart. The chemistry between Kazuma and Hiroyuki is so tender you can feel it in every unfinished note. It's tragic and beautiful, and I wish it were longer just to see them happy together.

The soundtrack is the real star here. Every piano chord and guitar strum carries the weight of their unspoken feelings. I've been listening to the main theme on repeat since watching. If you love music-driven storytelling, this short is a must-watch.

I get that it's a short film, but the plot feels too thin. Kazuma's disappearance is never properly explained, and the resolution is abrupt. The emotions are there, but without a solid narrative backbone, it just left me frustrated rather than moved.

For a low-budget short, the cinematography is surprisingly atmospheric. The café scenes are bathed in warm, golden light that contrasts beautifully with the rainy night scenes. It's a visual poem—imperfect but evocative. I just wish the editing had held the tension a bit longer.

I appreciate that the film treats its queer characters with dignity and avoids clichés. However, the power dynamic between the duo and the lack of clear communication around the crush felt a bit unresolved. It's a gentle story, but I would have liked a stronger message about consent in emotional expression.
