Koichi is the sun of his classroom—bright, warm, and effortlessly drawing everyone in. Mitsuru is the moon: quiet, observant, and content in his solitude. When these two high school boys collide, their stark differences spark an unexpected, magnetic pull. As Koichi patiently chips away at Mitsuru's icy exterior, a gentle romance begins to bloom, filled with stolen glances, tentative smiles, and the kind of understanding that only opposites can share. But one morning, tragedy strikes with chilling suddenness, upending their fragile world. A devastating car accident forces their love into a surreal and heartbreaking new reality, where the boundaries between life and death blur. *Eternal Yesterday* is a hauntingly beautiful Japanese BL that transcends a simple love story. It's a delicate meditation on grief, memory, and the painful grace of letting go. Through its melancholic yet tender narrative, the series asks: How long can you hold onto someone who has already left? And what does it truly mean to love—not just in life, but through loss? Prepare for a slow-burn emotional masterpiece that lingers long after the credits roll.

I am completely shattered and yet so full of love. Koichi and Mitsuru are everything I've ever wanted in a BL couple—the way Koichi patiently waits for Mitsuru to open up, the way Mitsuru's silent devotion speaks louder than any words. Their chemistry is off the charts, and I cried through the entire last episode. This is the kind of love that stays with you forever.

I wanted to love it more, but the supernatural rules are never explained, and the timeline jumps in episode one are confusing. The emotional core is strong, but some scenes feel artificially stretched. That said, the final episode's POV shift saved a lot for me. It's a decent drama, but not the masterpiece everyone claims.

Visually, this is a stunner. The use of rain as an emotional motif—from their first meeting to the final goodbye—is breathtaking. The color grading shifts subtly from warm summer tones to cold, desaturated blues as the story darkens. I'm a sucker for symbolism, and the blurring end credits that worsen each episode? Absolutely genius. A feast for the eyes.

I could write an essay on the OST alone. Ayumu Imazu's 'Sunshower' is the perfect opening—hopeful yet heavy with coming sorrow. And Kubo Aoi's 'Toi Natsu no Hi' as the ending theme? I can't hear it without tearing up. The background score is minimal but impactful, letting the silence speak. This drama reminded me how powerful music can be in storytelling.

I appreciate how the series handles consent and emotional boundaries. Koichi constantly checks in with Mitsuru, never pushing him beyond his comfort zone. Even their intimate scene is preceded by clear, verbal consent—a rarity in BL. The grief arc is handled with sensitivity, though I wish the narrative had more explicitly addressed the power imbalance in Mitsuru's 'caretaker' role. Still, a thoughtful and mature take on teenage love and loss.
