Naoki and Takuya have been inseparable best friends throughout high school, sharing laughter, secrets, and everyday moments. But for the last three years, Naoki has silently carried a deeper, secret affection for Takuya—one he never dared to voice. As graduation arrives, so does the bittersweet reality: Takuya is leaving for college in Tokyo, forcing their close bond to stretch across distance and unspoken feelings. In this tender, two-part Japanese short film, viewers witness the quiet turmoil of a love that teeters between friendship and confession. With gentle cinematography and raw, understated performances from Arai Keishi and Ren, the story explores the fear of losing a friend by risking more. Will Naoki find the courage to speak his heart before Takuya leaves? A poignant coming-of-age tale that captures the ache of first love, the weight of timing, and the beauty of small, vulnerable moments. Perfect for fans of emotional, slice-of-life romance, this web movie delivers a heartfelt punch in a compact runtime.

I'm such a sucker for friends-to-lovers and this short film delivered exactly what I needed. The way Naoki looks at Takuya when he thinks no one is watching—ugh, my heart. That tickle fight was so playful and intimate at the same time. Yes, the ending left me wanting more, but sometimes a gentle open ending feels more real. Definitely recommend if you love soft, emotional BL.

It's a sweet concept but it felt rushed. The female character introduced in the second part seemed like unnecessary drama filler, and I hated how she became collateral damage. Also, the subtitles were rough in a few spots—sometimes I couldn't tell who was talking. The ending needed one more scene to feel satisfying. Still, the main pair had genuine moments, so it's worth a quick watch.

I appreciated that the story tackled the fear of outing and how that pressure can poison a relationship. The scene where Naoki is almost forced to confess was uncomfortable but important to show real-world stakes. On the flip side, I wish the female friend wasn't written so one-dimensionally—she deserved more agency. Overall a solid little drama that handles consent and identity with care, even if it wasn't perfect.

For a short web film, the visual quality surprised me. The soft, hazy filter actually worked to create a nostalgic, dreamlike tone that mirrors Naoki's longing. The framing during their conversations—always a little too close or a little too far—perfectly captured that tension between intimacy and distance. Even the lighting in the classroom scenes felt warm and melancholic. Aesthetic-wise, this is a hidden gem.

The background music did a lot of heavy lifting in such a short runtime. The piano theme that plays during their quiet moments together really amplified the bittersweet atmosphere. I wish there had been a proper ending song to bookend the story, but the score itself was well-chosen. The sound design is subtle but effective—silence used just as powerfully as the music.
