Best friends for ten years, basketball star Leo and his fiercely loyal best friend Fiat have always been inseparable—Fiat cheering from the stands, Leo dominating the court. But when Leo starts noticing feelings that go far beyond friendship, their unshakeable bond begins to shift. Leo, the devoted athlete, has secretly loved Fiat for years, but Fiat’s past is tangled in painful family secrets and self-destructive patterns. As they tentatively step into a new romantic relationship, they must navigate jealousy, miscommunication, and the shadows of Fiat’s controlling mother and unresolved trauma. With the support of Leo’s warm family and a surprisingly healthy side romance between Leo’s quick-witted brother Leon and the sweet, reserved Pob, _Don’t Say No_ explores what happens when two people who have always been everything to each other finally learn to say yes to love—and no to the ghosts of the past. This series balances tender domestic moments, steamy intimacy, and real emotional growth, delivering a slow-burn journey of trust and healing that fans of Mame’s universe will find both familiar and surprisingly refreshing.

I simply adore this series! From the first episode, Leo and Fiat’s chemistry had me hooked. The way they communicate—always asking 'Is this okay?' and checking in—is something I wish every BL would copy. Yes, there’s angst and drama, but it feels earned because they talk through it. And Leon and Pob? My heart! Leon being pansexual and so respectful, Pob being his calm, mature self—they deserved more screen time. Ja and First are wonderful; Ja’s soft doe eyes when he looks at Fiat melt me. If you love a couple that actually discusses boundaries, this is for you. Don’t listen to the haters—it’s a 10/10 in my book.

I came for the main couple but stayed for Leon and Pob. Their relationship was so healthy and sweet—Leon actually respects Pob’s boundaries and asks permission! That’s rare in a Mame drama. However, the main plot with Fiat and Leo is repetitive: they fight, cry, have sex, rinse and repeat. Fiat’s crying got old fast. I also loved that Leon was confirmed pansexual; that representation made me smile. Too bad the ending for the side couple was so frustrating—they deserved a happy ending together. Overall, worth watching for the secondary romance, but skip the main couple’s filler.

This is a trainwreck of plot holes and toxic romanticization. The main couple supposedly communicates well, yet every crisis is based on a lack of communication. Leo says he wants to 'lock Fiat up' and everyone calls it romantic—that’s a red flag the size of Thailand. Fiat is reduced to a crying mess who can't even tie his shoes without Leo. The acting is stiff, especially First’s crying scenes (same expression every time). The only saving grace is Leon and Pob, but even their ending is a mess. If you want a BL with an actual plot, skip this. I gave it a 4 only because the soundtrack is okay.

I have to defend this show. As someone who studies consent in media, _Don't Say No_ does it better than 90% of BLs. From the very first intimate scene, Leo asks 'What are you comfortable with?' and they have open discussions about past trauma. The portrayal of Fiat’s mother’s mental illness is handled seriously, and the found family with Leo’s parents is beautifully warm. Yes, there are blackmail plots, but they are clearly condemned—Fiat is a victim, not a participant. Ja and First sell the emotional vulnerability. I’d recommend this to anyone tired of BLs where characters just grab each other without asking. This is Mame’s best work in terms of consent.

I’m a soundtrack lover, and _Don't Say No_ has some genuinely beautiful songs—especially the opening and ending themes. They really set the mood for the emotional peaks. But the overuse of background music during every dramatic moment got tiresome. The show relies on music to carry weight that the script should provide. Storywise, it’s messy: too many plot threads (mother, blackmail, stalker girl) that never get resolved properly. The acting is hit-or-miss, but I appreciated the effort. If you can mute the boring parts and just listen to the OST, you might enjoy it more than I did.

Visually, the show has some nice moments—the lighting in Leo and Fiat’s house is warm, and the basketball court scenes are shot with energy. However, the directing felt flat in emotional scenes; too many close-ups of crying faces without variation. The costuming for Fiat (always fashionable) was a highlight. Pacing is a huge issue—the first 6 episodes drag, then the last 3 rush through major revelations. I wanted more from the camera work during the kiss scenes; they were often awkwardly framed. Decent for a Thai BL production, but not groundbreaking. Leon and Pob had the best chemistry and their scenes were framed more naturally.

As someone who read the novel, I was disappointed. The book deals more deeply with Fiat’s internal shame and Leo’s patience, but the show turns those nuances into repetitive drama. The blackmail plot is handled clumsily—in the novel, it’s more about psychological manipulation; here it feels like a cheap soap opera. They also cut out some of Fiat’s backstory that explains his behavior. That said, the addition of Leon and Pob as a side couple was not in the original novel and they are the best part of the adaptation. If you’re a novel purist, brace yourself for changes that simplify complex characters.

I feel like I wasted 12 hours. The story is a mess: Fiat gets blackmailed into sex, then forgiven in five minutes. Leo’s possessive behavior is painted as romantic—'I want to lock you up' is not cute, it’s alarming. The acting is amateurish, especially First’s constant crying. Even the NC scenes lack chemistry; they look like they’re planking, not making love. The only thing that made me smile was the cat, but even that was poorly handled (the cat was clearly stressed). Avoid unless you’re a completionist for the TharnType universe. I gave it a 3 because the pizza scene was funny.
