In this emotional Taiwanese short film, Andy has been happily dating his boyfriend for nearly five years and is ready to take their relationship to the next level. But just as he musters the courage to pop the question at a romantic restaurant, his unsuspecting parents walk through the door. What follows is a heart-wrenching exploration of family expectations, secrecy, and the courage it takes to live authentically. 'Do You, Andy?' captures a single pivotal moment that forces Andy to choose between the love he's built and the family he's always known. With a runtime that packs a powerful emotional punch, this film is a tender and bittersweet look at the closet's weight and the liberating—if painful—act of coming out.

I was so invested in Andy's dilemma from the first minute. The tension at that restaurant table is palpable, and the final decision had me tearing up. For a short film, it packs a huge emotional wallop—exactly what I want from a queer romance.

The setup is strong but the execution feels rushed. The parents are one-dimensional, and the boyfriend barely gets any dialogue to flesh out his character. I appreciate the attempt at a meaningful coming-out story, but it needed more runtime to develop the relationships properly.

The cinematography is surprisingly polished for a short film—soft lighting during the romance, harsh fluorescent tones in the restaurant to mirror Andy's anxiety. The director uses space and silence brilliantly. Not groundbreaking, but visually pleasing and thematically cohesive.

As a social value piece, it's important but flawed. Andy's internalized shame is portrayed sympathetically, yet the film shies away from showing the boyfriend's perspective or the systemic pressures behind the closet. It's a decent conversation starter about coming out in conservative families, but not deep enough for real analysis.

The background score is subtle and melancholic—a simple piano theme that swells at the climax. It's effective but doesn't linger in memory like the best BL soundtracks. The lack of a proper song credit makes it feel a bit unfinished, though the music does support the mood.
