Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Puerto Galera Island in Oriental Mindoro, *Diving Into Love* is a tender Filipino BL series that dives deep into themes of family, self-love, and moving on. The story follows Sam (Kristian Kabigting) and Andrei (Axel Torres), two wounded souls who cross paths in a tropical paradise. Sam is grappling with a recent heartbreak and the pressure of familial expectations, while Andrei is on his own journey of self-discovery and healing. As they spend time together amidst pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, an unexpected connection blossoms—one that forces both to confront their pasts and embrace vulnerability. But just as their bond deepens, the reappearance of Sam's ex throws their fragile romance into turmoil. What makes this series special is not just its gorgeous cinematography or soothing soundtrack, but its honest portrayal of queer identities—characters openly discuss their sexual orientations and pronouns—and its emphasis on healthy communication and closure. Though low-budget, the production captures the serene beauty of the Philippines while delivering a heartfelt, if simple, narrative about growth and second chances.

I loved the music and the beautiful shots of Mindanao—the production value is surprisingly strong for a low-budget series. Acting was average but pleasant, and Axel Torres really stood out. Unfortunately, the ending felt so rushed that it undid all the calm atmosphere they built. It's a decent afternoon watch if you can handle Pinoy pacing.

The series had real potential with its realistic portrayal of queer relationships and the mature conversation between Sam and his ex—I appreciated that. But the plot derailed in the last two episodes: episode 7 made no sense with Andrei's 180, and the finale was just a mess of flashbacks and confusing time jumps. It needed a proper confrontation and a cleaner resolution.

I was so excited for this—gorgeous cinematography, beautiful leads, and a classic wounded-hearts falling-in-love plot. The first six episodes built a lovely romance with sweet moments. But then episode 6.1 felt completely disconnected, and the final episode was a disaster. I'm still hoping for a second season to fix that ending, but right now I can't recommend it because the script seriously let everyone down.

I came for the seaside scenery and stayed for the calm, introspective mood. Puerto Galera looks absolutely stunning—the drone shots and golden hour lighting made my soul happy. The story is simple and the acting is okay, but the atmosphere is so soothing that I didn't mind the slow pace. Just wish the writing had been as careful as the cinematography.

I really appreciated how the show handled identity: Sam says he's gay, Andrea is bisexual, and her ex-girlfriend is a trans woman—all discussed naturally without being preachy. The mature breakup scene between Sam and his ex was a refreshing change from typical BL drama. That said, the romantic build-up between the leads felt a bit rushed, and the ending undermined the good representation. Still, it's a positive step for Philippine BL.
