Diary of Tootsies is a groundbreaking Thai dramedy that follows four queer friends—Gus, Golf, Kim, and Natty—who make a pact to find love before New Year's after all three gay guys get dumped on the same day. What starts as a hilarious, sex-positive romp through Bangkok's dating scene quickly reveals its heart: beneath the outrageous humor and over-the-top antics lies a raw, honest exploration of homophobia, HIV stigma, infidelity, and the messy beauty of chosen family. The show refuses to sanitize its characters, embracing their flaws and triumphs with equal sincerity. With its diary-style narration, authentic friendship dynamics, and a rare blend of laugh-out-loud comedy and genuine emotional depth, Diary of Tootsies offers a refreshingly unvarnished look at LGBTQ+ life in Thailand that will make you cringe, cry, and cheer.

I came for the laughs but stayed for the unexpected gut punches. This show understands found family better than any drama I've seen. Gus, Golf, Kim, and Natty are messy, flawed, and so damn real. Yes, some jokes land awkwardly, but the way it talks about HIV stigma and queer survival? Chef's kiss. A must-watch for anyone tired of sanitized BL.

I'm a huge romantic, but this wasn't very romantic for me. The friendships are gold, and Gus's love line with Top was adorable—but the constant sexual harassment 'jokes' from Golf and Kim ruined the vibe. I get it's a comedy, but I couldn't root for characters who make others uncomfortable. Still, the emotional beats hit hard when they focus on real connections.

This show is a wild rollercoaster—sometimes brilliant, sometimes cringe. The writing is sharp when it wants to be (the diary narration, the fast-paced banter), but it relies too heavily on over-the-top stereotypes for cheap laughs. Pacing is uneven, and some storylines resolve way too easily. That said, the core cast's chemistry is undeniable, and the finale actually made me tear up. Flawed but memorable.

The soundtrack alone is worth watching! Thai pop bangers perfectly underscore both the chaotic comedy and the poignant moments. I found myself Shazam-ing every other scene. The show's use of music to shift tone—from ridiculous sex jokes to heartbreaking confession scenes—is masterful. Even if the humor isn't for everyone, the audio experience is top-tier.

I appreciate the attempt to show real queer life, but the constant fatphobic jokes and the way Golf's character is used purely as comic relief (including sexual harassment) made me uncomfortable. There's a good show buried here—Gus's arc about living with HIV is handled beautifully—but the rest feels like it's punching down. A mixed bag that left me conflicted.
