I LIVE for Puth and Kaeng. Their episodes are everything—the tension, the longing, that heartbreaking confession scene. First and Toru have the kind of chemistry that makes your heart race. I’ve rewatched episodes 9-10 more times than I can count. If only the whole series had this level of heat and emotion! The red shirt and smirk? Iconic.

I get what they were trying to do, but the writing is all over the place. Some arcs have massive logic gaps—like the chickenpox vaccination plot in Tue & Ake, or the 13 Going on 30 rip-off with Sat & Choke. The pacing is painfully slow in most episodes, and the last episode is just a mess of controlling behavior masquerading as romance. Skip the filler and only watch the hyped couples.

Visually, Y-Destiny is a treat. The costume department deserves an award—Nuea’s femme looks, Kaeng’s sophisticated red palette, and the grounding color scheme of the ghost arc all tell stories without words. The lighting in the intimate scenes is gorgeous, and the camera work really sells the romance. It’s a shame the writing couldn’t match the production value across every arc, but I’ll rewatch for the visuals alone.

I appreciate that Y-Destiny tries to show varied relationships, but some arcs raise red flags. The betting game in Team & Mon is predatory, and the controlling behavior in the final episode (not letting your boyfriend go out) isn’t romantic—it’s toxic. On the flip side, Puth & Kaeng handle consent and emotional boundaries well, and the ghost arc Thurs & Pao is sweet without being problematic. Mixed bag, but worth discussing.
