Connect is a heartfelt six-part Filipino anthology series born from the isolation of the 2020 lockdown. Told across three distinct stories—'Talk', 'Saying Goodbye', and 'Hello Mars!'—the series explores love, longing, and human connection when physical distancing becomes the new norm. In 'Talk', two strangers find an unexpected bond through late-night video calls; 'Saying Goodbye' captures the bittersweet ache of a final farewell; and 'Hello Mars!' adds a whimsical touch as a lonely dreamer reaches out to a mysterious voice across the void. Each episode weaves its own emotional thread, celebrating the resilience of queer love in times of crisis. With a runtime of just six episodes, Connect delivers a poignant, slice-of-life experience that highlights the beauty of vulnerability and the power of reaching out—even when the world keeps us apart.

I was absolutely charmed by 'Talk' – the chemistry between the two leads during their video calls felt so genuine and made my heart flutter. Even with simple settings, the longing in their eyes sold the romance perfectly. A hidden gem for anyone who loves soft, real-feel BL.

I appreciate the effort, but the anthology format left each story feeling rushed and underdeveloped. 'Hello Mars!' had an interesting sci-fi premise that never got enough screen time to land emotionally. If you're expecting tight writing like 'Gameboys', you might be disappointed.

Considering this was shot during lockdown with minimal crew, the visual storytelling is surprisingly effective. The use of window light and close-up angles in 'Saying Goodbye' created an intimate, almost painterly sadness. Not a technical masterpiece, but it shows smart resourcefulness.

The series handles emotional vulnerability well and doesn't rely on toxic tropes – the relationships are built on mutual respect and communication. However, 'Saying Goodbye' could have benefited from a more nuanced discussion of grief and agency. Still, a decent representation of queer resilience in isolation.

The background score is minimal but perfectly tuned to each story's mood – the gentle guitar in 'Talk' and the haunting piano in 'Saying Goodbye' elevated every emotional beat. I wish the original songs were released on streaming platforms because they really stuck with me.
