In the intimate Korean BL miniseries *Connect*, a chance encounter between two strangers unravels a tangled web of hidden identities, unresolved trauma, and the fragile nature of trust. Ian, a sensitive young man carrying the weight of past wounds, finds himself inexplicably drawn to the enigmatic Juhyuk—only to discover that the person he is falling for might be hiding behind a carefully constructed facade. As their connection deepens, Juhyuk's secret motives and a non-consensual kiss strain the boundaries of consent, forcing both characters to confront the painful truth: can love flourish when it is built on deception? Meanwhile, Ian's steadfast best friend, Jisu, serves as both a protective shield and a moral compass, refusing to let his friend be manipulated. Despite its short runtime, *Connect* delivers a visually polished, emotionally charged story that explores the gray areas of attraction, the cost of secrets, and the slow, messy process of rebuilding trust. With standout performances and a moody, cinematic aesthetic, this web series offers a raw, thought-provoking take on romance for viewers who appreciate drama that doesn't shy away from uncomfortable truths.

I honestly loved the chemistry between Ian and Juhyuk! Even though things got messy, I could feel the raw longing in every glance. The angst made their connection feel real, and I was rooting for them to work through the lies. The supportive friend Jisu was a bonus – no love triangle drama! Yes, the backstory is vague, but the emotional payoff hit me hard. Definitely one of the better short BLs I've seen.

The story felt like a collection of scenes with no connective tissue. Why was Ian so traumatized? Why did Juhyuk's actions suddenly flip from creepy to sincere? The characters' motivations are a black hole. I appreciate the attempt at moral complexity, but without proper setup, it just looks like lazy writing. A classic case of style over substance.

For a short-form web series, the visual direction is surprisingly strong. The color grading leans into muted teals and warm amber, creating a melancholic yet intimate mood. The framing often isolates the characters to emphasize their emotional distance. Yes, the plot has gaps, but the camera work and lighting tell half the story. If you watch for pure aesthetic pleasure, it delivers.

I'm deeply uncomfortable with how the non-consensual kiss is handled. The narrative tries to reframe it as part of a 'misunderstanding' rather than a violation, and the victim's trauma is never fully explored. Juhyuk's manipulation is glossed over too quickly. For a series that claims to treat trust seriously, it fails to give Ian's perspective enough weight. This needed a much more careful approach.

The background score actually carries a lot of the emotional weight here. The soft piano motifs and subtle synth pads during the tense moments really enhance the uneasy atmosphere. I wish there was a full OST release because the music is better than the plot deserves. It's the kind of score that makes you forgive some of the narrative hiccups.
