What starts as a typical influencer travel vlog quickly becomes something far more intimate. Idol Lee Jae Jun, model/actor Lee Ji Han, actor Seo Byuk Joon, and rookie model Ahn Hyo Sang embark on a work trip to Okinawa, Japan for a photoshoot. The four men, many meeting for the first time, decide to document their journey with a vlog channel. What begins as playful bromance and scenic sightseeing takes an unexpected turn when genuine feelings and romantic tension start to surface between the members. Blurring the line between reality and scripted romance, Cityboy_Log Vol.1: Okinawa is a groundbreaking experimental series that uses the vlog format to tell a tender, slow-burn love story. The stunning Okinawan backdrop, combined with the raw, natural performances of the cast (who play exaggerated versions of themselves), creates an immersive and surprisingly emotional viewing experience. This first volume serves as a gentle introduction to a unique format that redefines what a BL series can be.

I went in expecting a cute travel vlog and got my heart completely stolen. The way the guys tentatively grow closer is so natural it feels like I'm spying on a real couple. The kiss scene at the beach had me squealing – pure magic! Best slow-burn BL I've seen this year.

As a stand-alone drama, this first volume drags a bit. The first two episodes are just them drinking, eating, and playing around – no plot direction. But once you realize it's a proof of concept, the slow pace makes sense. It's an interesting experiment, but don't expect a tightly scripted narrative.

Every frame is postcard-worthy. The soft golden hour lighting on the Okinawan beaches, the warm tones in the tiny izakaya – it’s a visual feast. The handheld vlog style adds intimacy, and the editing cleverly hides the scripted seams. I’d watch this just for the cinematography alone.

What I love most is the respectful way the series handles gay romance. The actors are clearly comfortable with each other, and the narrative never plays their sexuality for shock value. It normalizes queer feelings in a light, travel-show context. Also, the 'first time meeting' dynamic beautifully explores consent and boundaries.

Since this is an original story (not adapted), I can't compare it to a novel. But I appreciate the risky format. Watching it again after later volumes, the slow start makes sense – it’s building the foundation of trust. Still wish they’d sped up the romance a bit. The actors deserve credit for playing 'themselves' as gay characters.
