Childhood is a tender Thai short film that captures the fragile, wordless transition from friendship to first love. Two best friends who have grown up side by side in neighboring homes share a bond as simple and deep as the river that runs through their village. Their last day of school marks the end of their childhood—and the beginning of something unspoken. With no dialogue, the story unfolds entirely through stolen glances, hesitant touches, and the ache of a secret crush that can no longer stay hidden. Director Thanisorn Kudkaew and the young cast deliver a deeply emotional, visually poetic experience that proves some of the most powerful stories are told in silence. This is a coming-of-age gem that will resonate with anyone who remembers the bittersweet terror of risking a friendship for a chance at love.

I'm still wiping tears. This short film packs more emotion into 20 minutes than most full dramas do in 12 episodes. The way they tell the story through just looks and trembling hands—it broke me and put me back together. Perfect for anyone who loves a sweet, painful first love.

The cinematography here is gorgeous—soft golden hour lighting, close-ups that capture every flicker of emotion, and a color palette that shifts from warm childhood days to cooler uncertainty. The lack of dialogue forces the camera to do the talking, and it does so beautifully. A visual treat.

I appreciate the ambition of a dialogue-free narrative, but I felt the pacing dragged slightly in the middle, and some emotional beats relied a bit too much on lingering stares that didn't always land. Still, the lead actors are remarkably expressive, and the ending is genuinely moving. A solid effort for a short.

What I loved most is how the film respects the uncertainty of teenage desire. The characters never push boundaries—every touch is hesitant, every advance is tentative. It's a refreshingly healthy depiction of first love where consent is implicit in every shy glance and paused hand. More BL stories should take notes.

The soundtrack is minimal but perfectly chosen—a single piano theme that swells at exactly the right moments. It doesn't overpower the silence; instead, it fills the gaps between heartbeats. The music alone tells half the story. I've been listening to the track on repeat since I finished the film.
