I absolutely adored this! The chemistry between Jeong Woo and Hangyeol is electric—every glance, every touch had me swooning. Yes, the ending is a cliffhanger, but that just means we get more! The kisses are intense for a K-BL, and the emotional vulnerability of both leads felt so real. A must-watch for romance lovers.

As much as I wanted to like it, the story just falls apart after the first couple episodes. The plot is virtually nonexistent, and the constant 'will they/won't they' drags without payoff. The final episode is a mess—feels like they stopped writing mid-scene. The low budget is glaring, and the background music drowns out dialogue. Not worth the hype.

I appreciate that Checkered Shirt tries to tackle the messy reality of self-discovery, including the awkwardness and the panic. However, the non-consensual kiss scene was uncomfortable and felt unnecessary—it could have been handled with more care for consent. The queer panic trope is overdone, but at least the leads eventually communicate. Room for growth in S2.

The OST has some nice soft guitar moments that fit the romantic mood, but the volume mixing is terrible—lyrics often overpower the dialogue. They also reuse the same few tracks way too much. A better sound design could have elevated the emotional beats. Still, the theme song is catchy enough to hum afterward.

For such a low-budget production, the visuals are surprisingly pleasing. The warm color grading in the coffee shop scenes and the soft lighting during intimate moments create a cozy, dreamlike atmosphere. However, the lack of extras and minimal set design sometimes break the immersion. The camera work during the kiss scenes is well-framed—intimate without being gratuitous.
