At a friend’s birthday bash, Xiao Mao’s world tilts when he locks eyes with the enigmatic and stoic Wu Si Cong. Instantly smitten, our lovestruck hero leans on his best friend for guidance in a cheeky, modern-day chase that feels equal parts sweet and exasperating. But Si Cong isn’t your average crush—he’s a powerful CEO whose icy exterior hides layers Xiao Mao is desperate to thaw. As Xiao Mao navigates clumsy confessions and stolen moments, a lingering shadow emerges from his friend’s own intentions, hinting at a tangled love triangle that could shatter everything. This low-budget Chinese indie offers a raw, unpolished slice of gay romance, focusing on the thrill and agony of first love against a backdrop of corporate glamour and youthful recklessness. While the pacing may stumble and budgets are tight, the chemistry between the leads glimmers through, reminding us that sometimes the simplest stories carry the most heart.

I honestly don't care about the messy plot—Xiao Mao and Si Cong's chemistry melted my heart. The scene where they finally hold hands? I screamed. This movie is pure cotton candy fluff, and I loved every second of it.

The acting is wooden, the editing is choppy, and the recap before the end is laughable. I get that it's a low-budget indie, but even so, the lack of coherent storytelling kills any emotional investment. Cute guys alone don't make a movie.

Visually, this film is a mess—awkward framing, inconsistent lighting, and some truly baffling slow-motion inserts. I wanted to love the aesthetic, but it felt like a student project shot on a phone. The only saving grace is a few decent close-ups of the leads' faces.

While I appreciate the attempt at gay representation in 2015 China, the persistent 'pursuit until they say yes' trope is uncomfortable. Xiao Mao's friend also crosses boundaries that normalise possessive behavior. The film doesn't interrogate these dynamics at all.

The soundtrack is non-existent—literally just a few generic piano loops that repeat. I kept waiting for a theme song or any emotional scoring, but nothing. It really hurts the mood in scenes that are supposed to be romantic.
