In Woo and Tae Hee, two college freshmen in 1984, fall into an intense, all-consuming first love. But their idyllic romance shatters when Tae Hee disappears without a trace, leaving In Woo devastated. Seventeen years later, In Woo is married with a daughter and working as a high school teacher, yet he remains haunted by the memory of his lost love. Everything changes when he notices a male student, Hyun Bin, whose gestures, expressions, and even favorite song eerily mirror Tae Hee. Is this just a psychological projection born of grief, or is something more mysterious—like reincarnation—at play? This Korean film masterfully blends melodrama, mystery, and romance to explore a love that transcends time, gender, and even life itself. Prepare for an emotional journey that asks: can the soul remember what the mind has forgotten? A thought-provoking and daring drama from 2001 that still sparks debate today.

I can't believe I almost missed this gem! Yes, the teacher-student thing is uncomfortable, but if you look past that, this movie is pure poetry. The way In Woo's endless love is shown through small gestures and the same song—I was sobbing by the end. It's not about being gay; it's about finding your soulmate in any form. A hidden masterpiece that deserves way more love!

The visual storytelling is surprisingly strong for a 2001 Korean film. The contrast between the bright, dreamy college scenes and the muted, gray tones of the present day really amplifies the sense of loss. The bungee jumping metaphor is visually striking too. However, the film quality of the only available print is quite low, which hurts the experience. Worth watching for the craft, but don't expect high-def.

I appreciate the attempt to explore love beyond gender, but I cannot ignore the huge red flags. A married teacher obsessing over a 17-year-old student, projecting his dead lover onto him, and essentially grooming him—this is not romantic, it's predatory. The reincarnation angle feels like a convenient excuse to excuse unethical behavior. The ending also implies you can only be happy if you're in a straight relationship. Disappointing.

The first half is slow and draggy, mostly just cute college romance scenes that feel disconnected from the second half. Once the time skip hits, the story picks up but becomes confusing. Is it reincarnation? Psychological breakdown? The film never commits, leaving way too many loose ends. I appreciate the ambition, but the execution needed tighter writing. Not bad, but not great either.

The music in this film is hauntingly beautiful. The recurring piano theme and the song that connects the two timelines—'One Sunny Day'—are used perfectly to evoke longing and nostalgia. Even though the movie has flaws, the soundtrack alone made me emotional. I still hum that tune weeks later. A must for anyone who appreciates music as a storytelling device.
