In a near-future Japan where society is rigidly divided by biological hierarchy, 'Boys Love: Omegaverse' plunges viewers into the tangled lives of four men caught in a web of prejudice, desire, and unexpected connection. Blonde-haired omega Kei struggles with his place in a world that dismisses his kind, while alpha Hiroshi—a charismatic newcomer at work—challenges every assumption Kei holds about love and power. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure from Kei's past re-emerges, blurring the lines between friendship, rivalry, and something deeper. Shot in a raw, intimate style, this 33-minute film explores what it means to crave intimacy when biology seems to dictate destiny. Will these men break free from the labels that bind them, or will the omegaverse’s cruel rules consume them all?

I only watched the free 11-minute sample and decided it wasn't worth paying 330 yen to see the rest. The first 5 minutes are exposition about omega oppression, then 3 minutes of a character suddenly wanting a relationship, and then a boring office scene. The acting is subpar and I couldn't even tell who the second male lead was supposed to be. No chemistry, no spark. Just a waste of potential.

As someone who loves omegaverse manga, I was excited to see a live-action version. The world-building is present but executed clumsily, and the actors clearly aren't professionals—they come from an underground idol group. That said, I admire the attempt. It’s not good, but it’s not terrible either. A middle-of-the-road curiosity.

The cinematography is flat and the color palette is dull—it screams low budget. But there’s a certain earnestness in how the camera lingers on the actors’ faces. I wish they had spent more time on lighting and blocking. The story feels rushed, with scenes ending abruptly. Not worth seeking out unless you’re a completist.

I actually finished the whole 33 minutes, and I’ll say the ending has a tiny emotional punch if you can overlook the wooden acting. The idea of two omegas and alphas trying to connect despite prejudice is sweet, but the execution fails. I wouldn’t pay for it, but if it were free on YouTube I’d watch again.
