In this raw and controversial early Japanese BL film, journalist Mamiya Taishin is assigned to profile the enigmatic top model Kisaragi Noeru. What begins as a routine interview spirals into a dangerously obsessive relationship when Noeru aggressively pursues Taishin, blurring the lines between love, manipulation, and trauma. As Taishin gets drawn deeper into Noeru's troubled past—including a possessive childhood friend and a series of self-destructive behaviors—the film weaves a dark tapestry of desire, pain, and fleeting moments of tenderness. Interspersed with philosophical quotes that reflect on love and authenticity, the story unfolds in fragmented, often jarring scenes, building toward a shocking and tragic conclusion. A polarizing entry in BL history, this 2006 movie is unflinching in its depiction of sexual violence and psychological turmoil, making it a challenging but thought-provoking watch for those interested in the genre's more gritty, experimental roots.

I went in expecting a dark drama but got a mess. The story jumps from scene to scene with no flow, the acting is wooden (especially the leads' forced laughter), and the ending is so rushed I felt cheated. The quotes were the only thing that kept me going, but they can't save a script that needed another draft.

I understand the backlash, but this film moved me deeply. Yes, the beginning is hard to watch, but the character growth and the way the quotes weave into their tragic love story felt so genuine. The ending broke me—it's painfully romantic in a fatalistic way. If you can handle dark themes, the chemistry between Saitoh Takumi and Terauchi Kotaro is electric.

This movie is a textbook example of harmful gay stereotypes—aggressive seduction, rape portrayed as passion, and a plot that romanticizes abuse. The constant nudity of the younger lead felt exploitative, and the justification for his trauma is paper-thin. It's 2006, not 1996; there's no excuse for this level of insensitivity. I can't recommend it to anyone.

Visually it has a cheap B-movie vibe—grainy film, awkward lighting, and some truly bizarre shot compositions. But there's a raw, indie quality that fits the chaotic story. The final sea scene is hauntingly beautiful despite the low budget. Props to the makeup team for the gory attack scene; it's visceral. Too bad the script couldn't match the visual ambition.

I kept watching for the soundtrack and those gorgeous Montaigne quotes. The music is melancholic and fits the tragic mood perfectly—especially the piano piece during the final train ride. The quotes are displayed beautifully on screen and give emotional weight even when the acting falls flat. If you're a fan of literary BL, this might be worth it despite its flaws.
