Set against the vibrant backdrop of Hong Kong and Macau, 'Boy, Do You Still Love Me?' is a tender yet turbulent two-episode miniseries that explores the fragile boundaries of love, trust, and past desires. Charlie and Louis seem like the perfect couple — supportive, affectionate, and deeply in sync. When Louis heads to an LGBTQ+ event in Macau, Charlie sends him off with a kiss and a hug, a moment of pure warmth that hints at a solid relationship. But beneath the surface, old flames flicker. Days later, a chance reunion with Charlie’s high school crush reignites feelings he thought were long buried, throwing his commitment into doubt. As Charlie grapples with loyalty and temptation, the series delicately probes whether first love can ever truly be forgotten — and at what cost. With only two episodes, this Hong Kong BL packs emotional punches, weaving in themes of infidelity, self-discovery, and the courage to face uncomfortable truths. It’s a bittersweet, introspective look at the messiness of adult relationships, perfect for viewers who crave raw, realistic drama over fairy-tale romance.

I'm a sucker for a good angst-fest, and this one hit all the right notes. Charlie and Louis had such sweet chemistry in those first few scenes — I really felt their love. The reunion with the high school crush was painful but so realistic. I just wish it was longer so I could see more of them working through it!

Two episodes is simply not enough to build a meaningful conflict. Charlie’s sudden temptation feels rushed and unearned, and Louis barely has any screen time to be a real character. The whole story suffers from pacing that leaves no room for emotional payoff. A longer format would have helped immensely.

I appreciate that the show tries to tackle infidelity and the fear of coming out, but it never fully commits to exploring those issues. Charlie’s actions are somewhat glossed over, and the homophobia subplot feels tacked on. A more nuanced script could have turned this into a meaningful conversation starter.

Visually, this is a treat. The cinematography captures the neon-lit streets of Macau and the cozy intimacy of Hong Kong apartments beautifully. The color palette shifts from warm golds to cool blues as Charlie’s doubt grows — a lovely touch. Sadly, the rushed narrative doesn't give the visuals enough time to breathe.

The background score really elevates the emotional moments — especially the piano piece that plays during the airport send-off and the later confrontation scene. It’s subtle but effective. I just wish there was an official OST release because I’d stream it on repeat.
